Where is it made?

Super curious about the manufacturing location of Asian and Australian T7s. Are these shipped from France or made in Japan? I'm trying to decide whether or not to get in line for the first batch that is soon to arrive in the USA. I'd rather not pay a premium to be a beta tester to workout new production line bugs.

Original Aussie ones were made in France if that helps. I'd well and truly trust the Japanese production line bikes and if I had a choice at the time I ordered mine I would have gone for one made in Japan.

Yamaha's first run of the FZ07 and fj09 were all good. I'm not at all worried about Jap production. And they have been building this stellar CP2 engine and tranny since 2014 with no issues.

I just hope they can build enough to keep up with demand.

Have one the guys post their first 2 digits of their VIN then we will know.

If it's France, it will be VF, VG, VH, VJ, VK, VL, VM, VN, VP, or VR

if its Japan, then it will be J.

edit: just remember US isn't getting their bike yet. Maybe the Canadian guys can help?

Yes, exactly how I found out where mine was made when I got it - VG = France.

Just as a friendly reminder to everyone, NEVER buy any vehicle with a VIN that starts with "L" 👍

East coast of Canada here . My unit should be in by the end of the week, shipped from western Canada on the 7th. The vin the dealer gave me starts with JY.  I was under the impression all north American units where supposed to be built in Japan.

Are the french made bikes just assembled in France or actually manufactured there?

Here the story of MBK in France where yamaha built the bikes. It sais frames, fairings and exhausts are produced here. I think the engines are still built in japan, shipped to french for assembling.
