Noise Cancelling ear buds !

Hi All,

I have been thinking about changing my current ear plugs , I have a set off plugs that have been specially made to my ear from when I was working in a noisy environment about 4 years ago.

They still work well but I have not tried anything else to compare them to and I am wondering if new technology can help us reduce noise even more than conventional plugs.

Attached is an example.

Does anyone on the forum use noise cancelling noise buds without listening to music and how good are they.

Regards,

Aleks

It would depend on your helmet, I used to use them and the helmet would push them into the ear, after a couple mins it would hurt to even check the blind spot, after a day my ears were so sore even putting the helmet on and off would hurt. Ear type, head type, and helmet type all vary though so ymmv.

I now just use a sena type unit and some 3M ear plugs, I cut the tips of the earplugs about 2-3mm off, so I can hear a little more and block just enough. I did just buy some silicone in-ear plugs, and same issue as the noise cancelling phones, so back to ear plugs. Interested to see what your, or others solutions are, as the ear plugs make listening to music non-existent, blocks it all out

Will (as will all headphones) be sore and cut the ears off you as they will be constantly painful within a mile.

I have these:

They are very good.

Thank you for sharing this with us... I'm trying to find an alternative to conventional ear plugs as there are other riders using noise cancelling technology and they swear by it.

Like you say it is not easy to find some that fit comfortably.

I really fancy one of those Sena helmets with the noise cancelling system built in (among other Sena features).

The only problem is it's a standard full face helmet. No Dual Sport option.

I was going to shoot them an email to ask if a DS option was in the works, but I couldn't find contact information. You probably have to use Twatter or Facepalm or some other BS social media thing I have zero interest in using.

I might try the ear buds. I usually wear plugs anyway, but they do hurt after a while on a long trip which is when you really need them.

Last option might be to bin the front wind shield and just get a really good quite helmet - one of the top end Shoei or Arai lids should be pretty good.

Custom Fit Guards

These guys seem to have decent reviews and seem to know what they are doing.. They don't offer a noise cancelling one yet, but they are specialist in Motorsport plugs and can offer one that reduces the noise levels by 30db.

Our average exposure when riding is at around 110db which causes damage to the ear if you don't wear plugs.

I've got moulded ones now but they are fairly old and I'm not sure they are as effective as they once were.

I have form earplugs.

They put some foam in my ear and then they have the form of my ear.

Work relly good.

You can choose which db noise it will cut of the noise.

Cost about 200 dollars.

Have it for many years.

Easy to clean.

Exactly the question buzzing (well...) in my ear as the Active Noise Cancellation in true wireless earbuds is getting better by the day. Any experiences related to this subject would be greatly appreciated...

Personnaly I prefer filtering plugs as they does not change the sounds and just reduce levels of some sounds. I use Pinlock ones and it greatly reduces wind and gearbox noises (quite strong on Triumph). But I still hear environment noises without distorsion.

I wonder whether active noise cancellation is safe as it changes the perseption of some noises.

I tried several types of ear plugs.  The personal mold ones worked great but were too good at stopping noise.  I wanted to be able to hear some road noise for cars and also listen to music.

I use these because they seem to fit the bill to reduce the wind and most background sound but allow the human voice, car horns and music to still be heard and they're comfortable.
