Adventure spec rear rack with Givi topbox

For those that want to run a Givi topbox with the Adventure Spec rear rack, it's absolutely possible.

I bought a genuine universal Givi Z113C2 mount for only £20 from sportsbikeshop.co.uk. I didn't have to drill anything at all and the mount was secured with the provided brackets and I used stainless Allen bolts and stainless nylox nuts.

I tested it out with the rally seat and I can still get the seat off and there's plenty of room two up with my old Givi topbox fitted.

I will be using this setup for commuting only and switch to soft luggage for adventure riding.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

Rich

There is room.

I'm tall and so is my daughter and we "tested it out" last night in the garage and there was plenty of room. Admittedly not on the road, but it seemed fine. With the Adventure spec rack, you don't want the passenger sitting right at the back anyway to avoid bum/thigh/rack interaction.

Cheers

Rich

  It looks good RichTT.

Another option for a Givi  Monokey on this side of the pond.

So what is the weight limit for an AS rear rack? Didn’t see any weight limit mentioned on their website, when I bought it.

Chris Colling explains why you shouldn't overload your T700 rear top luggage rack.

Apparently this happens when you overload it.

Interesting. I've only used my Givi top box mounted to the AS rear rack for commuting to work. All it has in it are shoes, shirt, trousers, lunch and a lock so nothing near the weight of the 1 gallon Rotopax that AS recommend is OK. I also would never take it off road with the top box on.

But this is a really good reminder not to load up a top box on the AAS rack and many thanks.

For proper travelling/adventure, I ditch the top box and fit the brilliant Enduristan luggage.

Cheers

Hey Rich,  that's exactly how I intend to use mine. I'm sure we'll be fine!

I found this photo on local tenere group and saw it was used with large aluminum top box.

EMGO box mount fits on an AS rack without drilling also.

Yet again another reason to avoid Adventure-Spec... crazy. And people here are turned off on Levers from China... laughable.

I also have the Adventure Spec rack on the rear of my T7.  Was concerned about fatiguing the aluminum after I mounted a Pelican type box on back.  Added these struts to alleviate my concern.
