Rotopax mount on mono seat rack

For those who wonder if a rotopax mount can be fitted on a mono seat rack I have the answer

It fit perfectly

2 holes are the original ones on the mono seat rack

you have to drill 2 new holes that goes all the way the the sub frame of the rack right on the metal plate

longer bolts and nuts required

voila!

I’ve been thinking along those lines as the RotoPax will still be a good base for the tent bag to strap on to. Thanks for sharing that. Very useful photos too.

Hi

It’s a 2 gallons rotopax

you may want to tie down the mono seat  with rubber band  to the frame because some slack seems to appear After hard miles

overall I end up with the rear swmotech rack and put the rotopax on it and keep the mono seat for strapped Dry bag

So you're saying that the hole pattern on the rotopax mount directly aligns with the pattern on the SW adventure rack?

Also, does the mounting post for the rotopax fit up thru the bottom of the rack plate - thru the diamond-shaped hole?

What size fasteners are required?  Thanks very much!!

As I remember because I’m not beside the bike the rotopax adaptor fit with these  four holes from the sw adventure rack

you can purchase the adaptor kit

This is my set up with with the mono seat rack and a rotopax bolted to it. I’ve used this for a few overnighters now. It’s good but I want to improve upon it.  @Tenerequebec I do have a strapping system I figured out that makes the tank as solid as can be on the mono seat rack. Otherwise I agree with you their would be some movement there.

This pic doesn’t show the small cooler in the center of the dry bag on top I carry with. That just makes the dry bag a little more awkward to strap down and it’s getting a little too tall for my liking.

So I’m looking for some solutions for next year. I’d like to keep the dry bag at a little lower profile.  So basically just have a little less in there. Then I’m thinking of getting a rear rack behind the mono seat rack. (Against all my judgment, trying to keep the weight of the bike balanced and not too cantilevered off the rear). Then if I get a rack I’d plan to get some sort of smaller hard case for it- to have the best of both worlds between soft bags and hard.  And ultimately use that for a cooler of sorts. I’m also going to get rid of my current Tusk side bags in favor of the same but larger ones to help reduce the load from the top dry bag.

So, what rear racks out there will work with the OEM mono seat rack? Looks like the SW Motech might be one of them? Are their others?

Do you know if that fits with the OEM mono seat rack?

Unfortunately according to that link they say it cannot be shipped to the US.

The product is designed in Canada and made in the EU.  They have US online sales here...

and @Tenerequebecanswered the fitment question.

I found my seat rack moves from side to side slightly I’m looking into fixing it but I wonder if it could cause  a problem with the catch ?  Thanks.

I cut some pads of rubber to place between the Mono seat rack’s rubber pads and the frame member it sits on. That tightened it up pretty good for me.

Why wouldn't a Canadian company offer shipping to the US? Surely can't be that complex?

I’m not sure, I’m guessing it was a Canadian site I was on and they likely have a US site too that i just wasn’t aware of.

Thanks sound good. I drilled the plate where one of the rubber sits and put a bolt stub in the frame to locate. The pillion seat has a stub to stop the movement so it’s a similar fix. Not to difficult and all tight now

Ah, I see what you did! Nice idea. I didn’t really have any lateral play, was just a little sloppy up and down.
