Recommended tube and size?

Johnny Fuel

Question

I know the size of my stock tires, but I don't know how to size tubes. Can anyone recommend some tire tubes for the front and rear? I like the idea of having one of each on hand just in case I need one. I checked the OEM parts but didn't see the size listed. I'm not sure how to buy tubes. Do you simply look for the same diameter as the tire?

I just bought a 4.00-5.10 x18 hd tube for my 150/70-18 rear tire. Can someone confirm that it will work before I go through the hassle of installing it?

Yeah, I saw that. I didn't want to make the assumption that just because THAT particular tube fit ALL those sizes that ANY tube with ANY  of those numbers would fit all those sizes. Do some tubes have a wider range of fitment than others? I don't know. When I text chatted with Rocky Mountain ATV they said that only one they had that would fit was a Motoz 150/70-18 tube for $81! (Ummm... Nope!) The confusing part to me that is if all these 18" tubes fit so many different tire sizes, why don't they advertise it that way? I mean, when I balked at the price of the RMATV tube why didn't they refer me to a selection any of those other sizes?

Jeff, I hear ya. Tube sizes are flexible (pun).

When in doubt, I order stock Yamaha stuff. $40

It will work just fine.  Well, the original, it's made in China so... you may find a different outcome.

Hey folks,
I just read the whole thread but I still have a question. I've recently bought a rear tube which was listed as follows on the website:
100/100 - 150/70-18 TR6 Fits: 4.50, 100/100, 110/100, 120/80, 120/90, 120/100, 130/80, 130/90, 140/70, 140/80, 150/60, 150/70 - 18
However I received a different one (please check the attached pictures). Although it's not exactly what I bought (150/70-18 TR6) I'm assuming it's going to fit just fine for the rear tire but I'm not 100% sure about it.
Please, let me know your thoughts.

I'd return it, since I'm sure Heidenau have a better fitting tube for our rear wheel. It might work, but when it comes to tires, I wouldn't make any unnecessary compromise.

Of course when you're out on the road and this is the only tube you have, it's a different story.

Edit: You'd want a Heidenau 18F or 18F Cr (that's the heavy duty "Cross" tube) for a 150/70-18 tire:

That's a 19 inch tube.

I am sure it would work in an emergency, but I would not put it in on purpose.

Get a proper sized 18 inch tube.

Exactly what @williestreet said, return it as it's for a 19" rim, not an 18".
