The tie down bobbins next to the seat also fit where the passenger pegs mount

This was a good find and works great.   You can also use some aluminum plate to make a "tie bar" to go between the bobbins so there is added flexibility.

I actually ended up doing something similar but used metric sockets as the spacers below the tiebars. Easy way to have 10mm-14mm sockets stored on the bike.  And the perfect width for the straps from a MM R80 harness  to loop around.
