Posted February 26, 20214 yr When I was looking for a more heavy duty skid plate for my Ténéré 700, I came across 21 different skid plates on the market. Most skid plates are made of 4 mm aluminum, but 3mm, 3/16" (4.8 mm) and 5 mm aluminum are also used, together with 2 mm steel, and 8 mm HDPE (plastic). I find it pretty amazing that so many companies across three (maybe four, but I think the OEM Heavy Duty Yamaha skid plate is designed and made in Europe) continents are taking a stab at this piece of protection for our bike! These are the skid plates for the Yamaha Ténéré 700 I came across: ACD Racing Parts, Adventure Spec, AltRider, AXP Racing, B&B Off Road, Black Dog Cycle Works, Camel ADV, Givi, Heed, Hepco & Becker, Moose Racing, Moto Guard, Outback Motortek, SRC Moto, SW Motech, Terratech PowerParts, Thor, Touratech Expedition, Touratech RallyeForm, Tusk, Yamaha OEM
