When I was looking for a more heavy duty skid plate for my Ténéré 700, I came across 21 different skid plates on the market.

Most skid plates are made of 4 mm aluminum, but 3mm, 3/16" (4.8 mm) and 5 mm aluminum are also used, together with 2 mm steel, and 8 mm HDPE (plastic).

I find it pretty amazing that so many companies across three (maybe four, but I think the OEM Heavy Duty Yamaha skid plate is designed and made in Europe) continents are taking a stab at this piece of protection for our bike!

These are the skid plates for the Yamaha Ténéré 700 I came across:

ACD Racing Parts,
Adventure Spec,
AltRider,
AXP Racing,
B&B Off Road,
Black Dog Cycle Works,
Camel ADV,
Givi,
Heed,
Hepco & Becker,
Moose Racing,
Moto Guard,
Outback Motortek,
SRC Moto,
SW Motech,
Terratech PowerParts,
Thor,
Touratech Expedition,
Touratech RallyeForm,
Tusk,
Yamaha OEM

And there's more

It was in the vid.

2018 Husqy/Oberon/JD FE 450, 2019 Husqvarna TE 250i, 2021 Yamaha Tenere 700, 2024 Honda XR650L

If you eliminate all the ones made in china, how many are left?

If you eliminate all those without linkage coverage, how many are left?

I was also amazed at the amount of choice when I was deciding what to buy last June.

Here are a few more options;

AS3 Performance

Bumot

CrossPro

Kodama Composites (Due for release soon)

If you eliminate the ones without a secure attachment at the rear to take the load off  of the footpeg castings how many are left ?
