OEM Heated Grips slipping on throttle tube

Recently had these mounted by dealer while bike was in for 1000mi. service. Worked fine until the bike sat out in the sun on a 65 degree day and the grip glue failed. Apparently they used Scott Grip Glue as there was a half tube left in the original box at pickup. I disconnected the wire to the throttle side grip to remove before cleaning and prepping the throttle tube again. I applied a thin layer of glue per the instructions and let it sit overnight. Checked it 24hrs. later  and the glue instantly failed again.

Clearly the Scott glue is not right for the job and I see that Yamaha recommends their own glue in the install instructions. I'll try this next. Can anyone confirm that they used the recommended Yamaha glue with good results? The throttle tube is really smooth and doesn't seem like most glues would stick to it well. Seems like scuffing the throttle tube with sand paper might help. Any tips or advice out there?

I had this exact same issue using Scott’s grip glue. Ended up using almost a full tube of Renthal grip glue on the throttle grip after scuffing it with 80 grit sandpaper.  So far so good.

Ok thanks Liquidape. Has it been in the sun on a hot day yet?

I used gorilla glue, the clear gel one to stick mine on.  It's been out in the sun and rain since last July, over 8000 miles, no problems.
