Don't drop your fuel cap hack

To prevent your fuel cap from dropping on the (dirty) ground, you could splurge on an expensive after market hinged cap. Or you could secure it with some nylon rope for 0$. I took the latter route.

Using a 3.5mm drill and 3mm rope.

I first removed the locking mechanism from the plastic cap, then drilled a hole in the front of the plastic cap.

Threaded through the rope, made a knot in the rope to secure it inside the cap. The other side of the rope I secured around the frame tube that the tank is bolted to on the front side. Made a sliding knot so I could more easily take off the slack.

Great idea... Although I won't do that on mine as I tend to leave the key inside the cap so I'm unable to leave the petrol station unless the cap is back after fueling.

I splurged on the expensive blah blah --- it works

I'm short, im clumsy,  and its not that I drop my cap at the station,  

its the profuse stream of profanity that escapes my lips when I do it.
I am just trying to not offend EVERYONE constantly

the hinge?  helps
