Finally found a use for the "wasted" space in the rear fairing. Built a small removable plate out of some spare ABS with some quick release tabs. Cut a hole in the original plastic, heated up the ABS and formed it to the tail section. The quick release tabs are 1/4 turn body panel fasteners that keep the panel nice and tight. Enough room in there for an emergency bivy bag and some essential first aid gear. Items that I think should be with the bike at all times, but in the past have been left behind.

Also decided to take advantage of the room behind the front body panels and make a permanent mount for spare tubes. Did have to rivet a tab on the inside to get this done. Easy enough to remove the tubes, which are tucked away in their custom made bag and strap system. One tube for each side, never going to be able to leave home without them. Been on a bunch of rides with the tubes stored in there, the picture shows they stay more than clean enough which is telling me that they are good and protected from damage. No heat issues either, the plastic holding the tube in place lines up with the corner of the rad, which still has good clearance.

@sshat Really cool idea! Do you hape a picture to show how much space you have inside the rear?

Or you could just remove your plastics and look.

Hey @DVVVDM , nope, no picture. Other than the exhaust support bracket, that side compartment is empty. The opening is smallish, so a small bag of first aid stuff is easy to get in and out. Thankfully I don't have to get at the gear often.

Thank you for replying 👍 I think the idea is brilliant and the execution looks great. I'll look into doing this on my own bike 😁
