DIY tank pads

I find the stock tank/side panels to be really slippery when standing, but I can’t justify buying the pre-made Tech Spec pads. Here is my DIY solution.  I bought a 12x12 self adhesive rubber mat from Harbor Freight and cut to fit the slippery side panel.  $3.99 gets you enough material to cover both sides. It’s not the prettiest, but sticks well and solves my issues!

 

 If for some reason the pads screw up the side panels, they are cheap enough to replace with OEM parts, but so far so good.

I literally just put these on today. About $25  Not bad, Had to trip off the excess adhesive.

I fitted the genuine ones a while back and they have a bit of excess adhesive, probably not a bad thing.

The factory ones have the glue directly on the pad, these use 3M mounting tape. Just cleaned it up with a razor blade so the don't collect dirt.
