Lowering links and grab handles

Having tried the Yamaha low seat, I've opted for Rally Raid 20mm lowering links instead. The low seat was OK for short trips but pretty hard, as expected, on longer runs. The RR links were half the price of the Yamaha links and better quality. They were easy to fit, even with the Yamaha centre stand already in place (I thought it might block the forward linkage bolt but it doesn't). I dropped the forks by 8mm as recommended to keep the bike's geometry as intended. At 5' 10" I still find the lowering links worthwhile. The small reduction in ground clearance is worth the sacrifice for the extra confidence that you will find the ground when needing to put a foot down. The experience of not finding ground  is not recommended - on my Africa Twin it proved painful and expensive! So it's back to the standard seat for me and the extra comfort it provides....... if anyone in the UK wants a low seat, give me a shout!

 

I also fitted a pair of Touratech grab rails (something that Yamaha seem to have forgotten to fit). They make pushing the bike much easier and would certainly be useful for a pillion too. Not cheap, like anything with Touratech's name on it, but well made and certainly recommended.
