SAMCO Coolant Hoses Fitted

Recommended Posts

Just finished fitting a SAMCO hose kit to the bike.
Not sure how many have done this already. Pretty simple. It can be done by removing bash plate, side panels and just removing the rad bolt and taking the rad off the top mount. I was able to get away with leaving the tank in place, but the ABS pump does make it a bit tricky getting to the higher left radiator pipe going to the stat.

I used the SAMCO clip kit and all went on smoothly. Good quality hoses as ever from SAMCO.

They are silicone hoses vs NBR. Higher temp resistance and less likely to split over time due to Ozone degradation.

A worthwhile upgrade if you are replacing damaged or old hoses, but not sure how needed they are on a new bike.

Edit - forgot to add that you can get them in cool colors other than black. I think that’s the real reason most people use them. *bling*

As per liquidapes post they are supposed to offer some benefits to longevity etc but I have had them on other bikes in the past as and when pipes have started to leak through the fabric weaves in the OEM pipes. I have always found them good quality and longer lasting than OEM. My left hand rad pipe somehow got a slice in it up near the rad and because she’s my trusted long distance commuter I can’t afford to risk any roadside dramas.

Ok, thanks for your explanations. The T7's my first watercooled bike, so I'm new to hoses other than fuel and oil on a bike 😁

I also did it! See also temp dropping vs the standard hoses. If you want to drop even more temp, try Evans coolant.

Durability, reliability and able to expel more heat from the engine are the main reasons for this kit. I have looked at it several times now but each time couldn't justify the price (yet).

I already have the 2WDW tune that improves the fuel mixture and has lower temp fan settings to keep the engine cool. So far the tune has worked perfectly in up to 37c, able to maintain engine temps between 85-95c even riding slowly. If we get a real scorcher (over 40c) and the engine temps struggle then I would reconsider this kit.
