MSCmoto RM3 steering damper review

I installed the MSC MOTO RM3 steering damper. If I had not dropped the bolts so many times the total install time with the gas tank slid back would have been like 5 minutes. So much easier than other brands I looked at. Here is my review. Comments always welcome.

Great write up. Looking to buy a damper and this brand is high on the list. How's your opinion now that you have use it for a while?

Love it. Just keeps the front end settled. Down. As they say “ sideways suspension”

@NeilW - good write-up on the MSC Steering Damper. My only experience with a steering damper is a Ralle Moto unit on a DR650. The Ralle Moto has separate high-speed and low-speed damping. While the dual-adjust design may offer more precision, it's not easier to use nor do I think it's better for most users. In practice, there were a few times when I felt the benefit of the steering damper - like very rocky or very sandy stretches where the damper was ideally set, but most of the time I was too lazy or too ignorant of how to set it for every condition, conditions constantly changing, that I pretty much left it somewhere in the middle most of the time.

Hopefully you will come back to this thread and update on your longer-term usage.

Thanks

I first used their dampers back in 2001 on a WR400. It then migrated through 2 WR450s. I had one on my F800GS and now on my T7.

They have been ultra-reliable and easy to use.

I had to file the back of the adjuster to get the Acerbis tank to fit but it hasn't affected use.

Alcohol! No good story starts with a salad.

I see the single dial as very easy to use. I keep it at 11 clicks. Mid way, and tighten about 4-5 more when I encounter rocky areas. Not exactly, just turn clockwise a bit in rougher stuff and back to start around 11 click( about 5:30 position.
