Mosko Reckless 80 mounting doubts

Hi guys!

After spending some months thinking about what lugagge system to buy, I finally decided to go for the Mosko Moto Reckless 80, but I had some doubts about how to mount it on the T7 w/o a rack. I definetly don't want to mount a rear rack on the bike, but I installed the rear seat rack as I always ride alone and it doesn't change the look of the bike. I also have the Kriega loops for the US-30 bag. There's anyone that uses this system without any type of rack? And how do you mount the Reckless 40/80 directly to the bike?

Thanks!

I also don't like a rack but you need something to strap the R80 to.
I have the R40 for daily use and the R80 for long trips and the 40 has 2 straps at the back and that i looped around the indicators at first but the R80 has 3 straps so i made my own fixation point.
Here is my blog about it:

If you want to get out the drill you might be able to make the necessary holes in the back plastics but I doubt it will hold up. Camel obviously makes a very decent minimal rack, realistically you'll probably need one. Worth it in the end. What are your concerns about the rear rack?

I thought a rear seat rack would be sort of redundant because of the beaver tail between the saddlebags?  At least on my 10L version it would seem so.  The beaver covers most of the rear seat, what am I missing here?

There are no mounting points for the rear straps on the Reckless sets.
The 40 and i guess also the 10 have 2 and those can be looped around the indicator base but the R80 also has a middle strap and that has no place to attach to.

In the blog on the last picture you can see how i had it before but this is a better picture.

They supply small attachment lugs you can mount to the rear fender or elsewhere if you want to drill holes

but I just looped my rear straps under the guard much as you did.  It's very secure.

Correct but these "cleets" are not in the R80 kit strangely and still is not an option for the third middle strap.
I used them for the legstraps because i deleted the passenger footpegs and they are sold separate as a pair when needed.

I ran my R80 loaded up a couple times without the middle strap and it didn't make a difference..

I got the Black Dog Helipad that replaces the passenger seat. Perfect platform for strapping the R80 to it. No permanent rear rack needed. When you don’t want it or the R80 just put the passenger seat back on

@Liquidape how does that Helo Pad mount? Just screwed in or is there some type of quick-release to pull it off?

You put it on and take it off just like you do the passenger seat with the bikes key. It has hooks that match those of the passenger seat and a post that clicks into the latch for the passenger seat.
Easy Peasy.

Thanks! I don't actually have a T7 yet, just trying to plan everything out.

I've had a couple of the BDCW plates on different bikes and love them. Always been surprised they don't seem more common.

I went with the AXP skid plate. Like how quiet it is vs metal plates.

I meant the luggage rack/plate/helo pad. I do have their skid plate on my bike now though and it is good. Haven't seen many reviews of the T7 one though.

I have one of the Helo-pad racks for sale. Let me know if anyone needs one.  Photo available.

Hi, I am a new member.

Is there anyone that uses a GNOBLIN on the tail without mounting a rack..or do you think the plastic of the tail is not strong enough to support the tension? I have only R40😏!!

Late to this party. I've run r40 and r80 on other bikes but new to the game on the T700.  One thing I did note - I saw some mentions about the R80 center strap and thought I'd mention I removed mine when I first got the R80 a long time ago and just use the two rear straps.  I've rode a bunch of miles, dumped the bikes any times on rough terrain with it mounted that way never once gave me any trouble.

As others have said the R40 seems to work well enough with the straps passed under the tail but I'll probably pick up a Camel rack or similar when it comes time to mount the R80.  The only reason I haven't gotten a rear rack yet is cosmetic. Seems like they are all designed to flow with the stock seat and I run a tall Set Concepts seat.

CAPTURA GNOBLIN.JPG

I will look into it tonight.

I have quite a Mosko collection with the R40 for daily use and the R80 for trips. For the Crosst6i have the Backcountry V35 panniers and a wide range of extras to mix and match depending on the trip.

Never heard of this.

I have a tail tidy and the R40 can be hooked to the mounting ears for the indicators but i made a minimalistic mounting frame.

I saw these a few weeks ago. It's looks interesting but I have two issues with it.

1) I move my bags across multiple bikes so would need to purchase multiple set-ups.

2) It looks like if something started to loosen while riding it would only take about 1  inch (25mm) of rearward movement of the bags to allow them to pop loose at the rear where as with the traditional straps they would continue to keep the bag from popping completely loose at the back.

Vid below (Caution, not a T700) shows the unmounting with straps at the 6 minute mark if interested. If not - the answer is it takes 35 seconds with the traditional straps and only slightly longer to install. Those hooks look nifty but unless they can be mounted on a very stout surface on a bike that can't utilize straps I'd stick with straps.
