True enduro tires too much for T700?

Hello,

Scrolled from different topics but could not find any discussion about it....

So. I am about to get my T700 WR to be delivered pretty soon. First thing (and always emotional topic) - what tires. Depends on, where you ride, right? Right. I ride offroad. Not hard enduro but definately more than just gravel roads. Smaller forest trails, (very) muddy sections, lots of roots, soft sand. But also travelling. Riding Trans Euro Trails.

I have great old bike now - TT600R. Had Anakee Wilds with that bike - those are for sure too road tires for me. No i have Mich. Trackers. Much better but i would love to have even more traction. But i will not change. Let this old boy be with Trackers as they are still working ok.

So, i am thinking - with my new World Raid coming - would that be too crazy to have proper enduro tires on it? Like Michelin Enduro Mediums for example?

Is that too crazy? Riding on road (even, when i am doing it 3% of my time on the bike) is total catastrophy? Or is that not soooo bad on road?

Are true enduro tires maybe too soft for a heavy bike (load index suits actually).

Please comment, if you have experience with T700 (world ride or not does not matter) with some proper-proper enduro tires on.

Thanks a lot!

The wide rims flatten out the enduro tyres.  Plenty of info about. I saw one thread where an enduro front tore the sidewall when it hit a rock or something.

A mitchelin dealer in the UK rides a 700 and he's converted wheels to smaller sizes and run aggressive tyres but don't think they are mediums.

I am aware that on 4" rim a 140 tire is not ideal but that is sure not the "dealbraker" if you do not run too low pressure or a lot of highway miles.  140 rear tire is still widely used on original rim and no problems. Front rim is anyway fine.

So, knowing that, i am looking for actual experiences with true enduro tires and T700.

Anyone?

I have run the Bridgestone E50 f/r and the bike handled them surprisingly well. No issues for me save for the 1,000 miles i got out of the rear…. But they were well worth it off road!

Since then, i have settled for a Pirelli Scoprion Rally rear, or my preferred Dunlop D908rr rear to maximize mileage, but i still run an E50 in the front for all the bite i can get. I do hit 90mph on the freeway on rare occasions.
