Skid Plate Tool Box f£&@ up

I hastily purchased a skid plate tool box, but then it turned out it’s only meant for a Rally skid plate with pre drilled holes. Has anybody managed to fit it to other plates? I have a WR with a Heavy Duty oem skid plate

Yes looking at the Rally skidplate there is a depressed section. 

Am just wondering whether folk have improvised and retrofitted successfully on different plates.
