Tail Stand

You may have seen this before but just thought I’d add this simple and cheap trail stand option

Buy an aluminium walking aid one online Marketplace or other

I paid AUD 10

See attached photos

Regarding the lengths of each piece make them to what works for you

With regard to the top piece which would fit onto the bike I have only give a simple option

Fabricate what you like

Yep. I have one made from the same.

Hopefully redundant crutch after a broken leg a few years ago.

I have a rubber stopper on the top for supporting the rear by the swing arm and a long pin for supporting the front by a slot in the bash plate.

Me doing someone else's DR 650 because they couldn't do a trailside flat.

You can see the stand under the swingarm.

I wrap a velcro strap around the front brake lever to help prevent the bike rolling away.

I was going to cut off this old crutch just above the Y and carry the bottom adjustable section as a lightweight trail stand, but realized it was only good for getting the rear tire off the ground. Worked great on both my DR650 and on the T7 when the footpeg is fitted into the Y, but I ended up buying a purpose-built trail stand instead.

Not a good look a crutch and motorcycle in the same picture.  😉

This works great. I've got a pair of those so I could use both rubber ends.

Actually never thought of it like that, but you're right.

One of the pair from after my son's knee surgery due to a soccer injury while in high school. Fortunately he fully recovered, and is currently training for his first full marathon.

That is my exact set up. Got a used set of crutches from one of the thrift stores for three dollars and canibalized them.
