High Exhaust

Which high exhaust can be suggested that is the quietest or near the stock exhaust sound level.

Plenty of info about high exhausts.

The "quietness" will come down to the muffler not the pipe.

There are a multitude of mufflers out there and google is your friend.

I presume you are leaving the standard header pipes on.

The catalytic converter cuts down a heap of noise.

Here is my install & review of the MIVV Dakar high mount (original connector pipe version) that includes videos of my MIVV system with oem header/cat while running, on road use by someone else & with a Black Widow decat header & the MIVV Dakar system on my bike to reference to the oem sound...also has links to most of the high mount aftermarket exhaust systems available for the std T7.

That's a very comprehensive report!

It appears the Black Widow header is a bit louder than stock but hearing "in the flesh" would clarify.

Yes, just a little more volume & bark when on it, but no where near obnoxious & still very neighbour friendly...I made my own db killer for the MIVV... with the decat header it's now akin to many of the aftermarket mufflers with no db killer & the oem header...so more of a slight vs dramatic change.

I did a hpcorse titanium short and dominator headers. I was surprised how quiet it is. Seems only slightly louder than stock and very pleasant sound. Getting rid of the cat converter and a 2wheeldynoworx tune has my bike running really cool with more pepp and weight loss. I have to figure out how to make a spark arrestor for mine.

The HP Corse one with the baffle in is fairly quiet. The fit and finish is superb, tucks out of the way and no cutting of the frame needed

Camel ADV Enduro Bend High Exhaust (Standard Muffler) with the  DB killer in is just as (if not so more) quiet than stock. The rumble is deeper and sounds better, but the volume level is pretty much the same or lower than stock.

With the DB killer out it is much louder than stock and can get annoying when riding out of my underground parkade 😆

I went with the dominator mx2 . Probably similar to the camel as noted above, in the sense that it seems like the throaty tone makes it seem louder. But technically the dB level is in a similar range . I don’t mind it and I don’t find it obnoxious. But if you don’t ride with ear plugs, maybe some would find it a tad on the loud side

Arrow cans have removable baffles. Left in they're much quieter. Mine got removed. Exhaust noise is pleasant and nothing to wind roar. I am going slightly deaf though. 🤔

I have the Mivv with a decat and the optional Mivv db killer. With the db killer in, the noise level is similar to the stock setup.

The Huzar I installed, with both of its dB killers in, is no louder than the OEM muffler.

I'm really tempted to get the Huzar, but does your heel hit it? I have size 12US/47EU boots. I think I'll be melting heels all over that.

I wear size 44 EU boots, and noticed that when sliding my feet back on the pegs for the twisties my heel would touch the Huzar mid-pipe. To prevent that, I first installed the small heat guard from the OEM muffler using two hose clamps around the mid-pipe which each captured a nut for the attachment screws, but immediately found the guard stuck out so far my right foot was forced into an uncomfortable position with my foot slid back. The guard and clamps came back off.

I then applied several inches of exhaust wrap around the mid-pipe at the heel contact area, and rode like that for quite a while.

When the wrap started looking a bit ragged a few months ago I removed it and decided to ride with just the bare mid-pipe to see what happened. I'd forgotten all about it until your question and took a look; just a tiny mark on the mid-pipe where my heel has contacted it - so small it's only noticeable when up close and looking for it so that's the way it's staying from now on.  Just a corresponding small mark on the boot heel, definitely the smallest amount of 'damage' from all of the off-road usage the boot has seen.

Here you go. I marked with a Sharpie the inside of the rear fairing where the Huzar muffler support clamp stand-off bracket had to go through, then cut it out with a Dremel.

20220101_085508.jpg.440b3a3c0c85717ec3a449d6a823bcff.jpg20220101_085531.jpg.352e166106cb1d9f7e4cb00a6bdf9db9.jpg

Because I wanted the muffler tip to be as low as possible to clear the rear turn signals mounted on the Tusk tail tidy, I found a 20mm longer support bracket in my toolbox and used it instead of the item provided by Huzar.

20220101_090725.jpg.991b8dcb54bbd3066323186ffa24954f.jpg20220101_090802.jpg.3fd7b579c9c61452ee8aa4f82d9ece96.jpg20220101_091018.jpg.14eeda26e5ac282e2d489ffd6e6e9a7a.jpg20220101_110157.jpg.e9237dea4d38732a95f3e554294aa219.jpg

After installation, I filled in the remainer of the slot opening with RTV sealant to prevent water/mud intrusion. After I bent the tail tidy signal mount ears slightly upward/outward, I was left with about 1" clearance between the muffler tip and the signals and never any issues.

Be sure and install the inner dB killer plate around its circumference with hi-temp RTV when placing it into the muffler inlet to prevent it from rattling around as some have commented on/complained about.

Thank you...a pic (or more) is worth a thousand word!

So your hanger bracket goes straight down from the tie-down bolt location?  No bends?

Do the two sides of the muffler strap come together  directly over the upper mid point  of the oval cannister when attached to the bracket in order for the oval ends to be in a vertical plane, or is there some 'rotation" to the muffler when mounted?  Hard to tell from the pics.  I'm trying to find a solution for my high mount project without rotating the oval cannister so looking for ideas.

Is there additional hardware holding the pipe to the OEM muffler hanger bracket?  Looks like it from the pics.  Could you post a close up if there is, and what was used?  Thanks.

On your first question: Correct, the hanger bracket is vertical from the bolt to the muffler clamp with no bends. Very simple and effective mount support bracket.

Not sure I follow your second question, but maybe this'll answer it. Once I had the vertical hanger bracket in place, I installed the Huzar mid-pipe then the muffler with the clamp loosely around it and aligned with the hanger bracket. Before tightening the muffler clamp and bolt to the vertical hanger bracket, I rotated the muffler as needed to ensure the muffler outlet/tip was perpendicular to the ground. Once everything was tightened (mip-pipe connection at header outlet and muffler clamp to hanger bracket) the muffler is very secure and doesn't rotate at all.

Yes, Huzar also provided a small brace that spanned the outside of the V of the OEM hanger bracket, which connected via a bolt to a ring around the top of the mid-pipe where it enters the muffler. I found the ring and nut had broken after ~ 7k miles of use, and fabricated a replacement with some hardware from my toolbox which also utilized the Huzar brace. I just noticed a few days ago that hardware had broken also, and the brace has gone missing as a result. I have no idea how long ago that happened, but the entire assembly is still very secure without it and I'm still riding the bike until I have time to rig up another support to the OEM hanger although I'm not convinced it's really necessary. Anything I do rig up there will be much more robust than either of the previous items, as I'm sure they were victims of basic vibration.

Broken Huzer support hardware on right, my replacement hardware for attachment to the Huzer brace on left:

I'm working with a Black Widow  oval  exhaust and the canister strap/band is pre-formed to the same oval shape.  The two ends of the strap come together directly above the canister and unless the hanger bracket is more or less in the same vertical plane, the whole exhaust rotates when connecting  the two and the end result is a rotated exhaust canister.

This is the exhaust wrapped in tape for protection while I fiddle around with positioning it.

This is the preferred orientation  when mounted

I don't want any rotation of the canister, even slightly as in the pic below

All of my concerns above arose from the mounting location of the bracket that came with the Ali Express mid-pipe - it uses the two underside starboard bolts for the tail light unit - and its location requires a "tilt" to the ears of the muffler strap when connecting to the bracket.  Your set-up should eliminate that.  Now to hit Home Depot to find something that will work for a bracket.  I'm thinking a piece of aluminum stock should be easy to work with.

I'm starting my high exhaust install and noted a difference in the angle of the welded "nut" in your pic above and my '24.  On your bike it appears the face of the nut is more or less perpendicular to the ground and the bracket points straight down when flush against the face of the nut.

On my bike, it's angled so that the brackets sticks out at an angle when flush with the face of the nut....see pics below.  The bracket is touching the plastic it has to go through below.

I have some bending to do.  Trying to decide if I should do it at the top or below....

Actually, the four threaded tie down spool points on my T7, like yours, are angled slightly upward as I'm sure they are on all T7s. While the pictures of my muffler support bracket installation appear to show the bracket perpendicular to the floor, that was from the orientation of my phone when I took the pics. And although I did use the word 'vertical' once in my description above, I meant it to confirm the bracket was straight with no bends.

This design follows the alignment installation intended by Huzar for their muffler support bracket, but if your installation requires the bracket to be perpendicular to the floor/closer to the bike's centerline I think a bend immediately below the bracket attach hole would provide the most strength and be the least subject to movement/flexing while underway.

Done!

Thanks to  @RiderEh whose idea I essentially copied and for his tips and suggestions going forward, and @jdub53 for sharing and guidance.

The Tail Tidy and included turn signals (I don't like them and they are almost hidden) are all from the Tusk kit.

Black Widow 300 mm Black Stainless Carbon Tip Silencer.

Ali Express Midpipe (keeping the pillion foot pegs was mandatory as my wife signed off the purchase of the bike😄 and she enjoys cruising around town on the back).

Home Depot L bracket that I cut in half, bent to shape, drilled and painted.

Finished product:
