Exhaust systems

Hello all,

Job No1 is to ditch the yamaha T7 production exhaust system.

Now i could just spend £800 & go for the obvious whats on offer from the yamaha dealer but I've been looking at quite a few other not so well known systems.

If any one has a link to a comparison chart for what's on offer I'd be very much greatful.

Equally it would be good to know what to steer clear off.

Cheers

Lee

Hi Lee,

Check

We manufacture and supply a vast range of performance exhaust to...

They are British made and excellent quality, very good customer service and they have a very good selection.

Attached is my bike with their gp race 😉🏍️💨

I like what i see so far, a proper engineering company & the lead time for manufacturing would suggest they're good at what they do.

Give them a ring, I was well happy with the customer service... My exhaust was ordered Monday and I had it delivered Thursday first thing... Db killer next day as I didn't want one at the beginning.

Make sure to post some pictures of the bike

This one is mine... The sound without the dB killer is a bit to much for me... But now its perfect and the finish outstanding.

If I would buy again tri oval carbon with polished tip 😉🤣

Well I gotta throw in my 2 cents as well. I went for a budget setup knowing it would end up damaged. I like the small GP cans best.

Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for Tenere 700 Exhaust GP I Dominator Racing silencer muffler 2019 2020 at the best online prices at eBay! Free shipping for many products!

I run their header as well to eliminate the cat, but it is not required and I know illegal in some areas. Overall I'm happy with the results. I wish it was a little closer to the swingarm, but that wouldn't stop it from getting damaged. The sound is excellent. They also provide a DB reduction insert if you want things more calm.

I did look at these, very reasonable for the price & as you say damage is inevitable.

Which ever system i choose i will mod for my own reasons, i will run it at high level so the output is at the same height as the air intake, 2 reasons.. With the inlet & outlet as the same height you increase fuel efficiency & and a slight increase in power output as a result and if you're bogged down less chance of starving the engine and it cutting out, especially if submerged.

It will mean taking it to a shop to get a new pipe welded up but in the long run it is worth it.

Cheers for the info.

SC project exhaust, so far this is the only manufacturer I've found that makes a titanium header.

If you all know of others can you please list them.

Scorpion Exhausts, based in the UK, are our preffered choice for slip-on to suit the T7.

They also have a 50% "crash damage" discount on replacement if you smash the pipe during ownership.

Cheers,

I've sorted the end can, looking specifically for the header & mid pipe in titanium.

So far SC project & arrow are all i can find but im looking for a SL version not a race version.

Think I'm left with sending off the stock pipe to a specialist to get one made.

The only titanium header and midpipe available for the CP2 platform is from Graves Exhaust that I know of... vast majority are stainless steel header and midpipe with the occasional end can made of titanium...

As for peak HP/TQ...the availability of brands comes within +/-  2HP/TQ avg if you compare them...

Thanks for the info, its more about weight reduction than power increase.

I will get a slight bump just with the end can and an overall bump from the header but i need to keep the cat for now, which will be removed on race days.

I need to work out a happy medium between having the cat in & out on the mapping.

I ordered the SC Project X-Plorer 2 slip-on. I want to keep the stock tune on this bike ( for now at least ) and see how it is with just the muffler. I'm just looking for better sound, looks and weight savings. I'll see what direction I want to go in the future.

I'm gonna wait for the @Camel ADV exhaust system to be released. Also, if you ride off road, be sure to choose an exhaust that has a USFS approved spark arrestor, or you could get a big fine or even worse, start a forest fire.

Tip, you can remove the end cap of your North American T7 exhaust, and easily remove the stock spark arrestor with four nuts. It really improves the sound of the exhaust big time.

Be sure to save the spark arrestor for later trail rides.

Not sure if this belongs in its own topic or not. Feel free to redirect me if I've over looked it, but here is my question. What is everyone doing for programming with their new exhaust? I see slip on and full systems with no mention of programming on either.

Anyone have a definitive answer as to whether or not the Akrapovic Titanium slip-on, has a USFS approved spark arrestor?  Their website doesn't state it anywhere ya or nay, but some other forum discussion seems to indicate no.

https://www.akrapovic.com/en/moto/product/20787/Yamaha/Ténéré-700/2020/Slip-On-Line-Titanium?brandId=41&modelId=1034&yearId=5865

Looks like the answer is no.  Searching around I did locate this gent who makes custom USFS approved Spark Arrestors for the Akrapovic.  Scroll down to the red text under the Akro insert 48mm single, that references an email contact. No affiliation on my part, but looks like a source to help keep the forests green and us out of the pokie.

I'm delighted with my MTC can. Maybe the clue is in the name "max torque cans" but the length makes it feel super torquey.  Would definitely buy again. Great quality, sounds ace and super light.
