As far as I know, they must apply for Android Auto compliance with Google. So they need to prove to Google the apps are no problem and don't distract you while riding.

 

But in my case, my navigation apps don't work with it. So it might take time until they are certified (if this ever happens).

I'll stick to the Garmin XT.
Discovered last night that if i connect the device to the computer to use the topo maps most of the TET in Spain will be routeable.
