In 2016 I did a 4 month 23000 mile 4 corner, 48 state ride on my Super Tenere.

I enjoyed life on the road so much that in June of 2018 I sold my house, bought a van and will be traveling full time like a snowbird to stay between 65-90 ish degrees year around.  I’m reaching out to all Tenere ownrers to join me as I pass through.  You can follow my Garmin in reach here https://share.garmin.com/share/GlenComeaux

come join me

While I’m in Colorado waiting for my van to be built,  I’ve put 5000 miles on my Super Tenere since August. Meeting 2 other Tenere riders and lots of nice people on BMW’s and KTM’s. Here are a few pics. The pics are from all over Colorado and Utah around Moab and Bryce Canyon

A little about the #vanlife.  The “YAMHULR” special plates are in the mail from the DMV while the van is in the final stages of completion with Cole Ford at www.cavevan.com . It's taken him a bit longer then expected because this is his first full build of a Ford Transit tall /extended body w/eco boost V6.  He’s usually a Westfalia and Sprinter builder  but wants to expand his business so I’m his  guinea pig. The insulation, walls and interior all had to be hand built, not being able to rely on 3rd party prefab kits since the Transits are new to the US( since 2015). I should be back on the road in a week or so?

My trip started in June the day my house closed and I left Western Washington (Roy).  The first real stop was San Diego for Joe Desrosiers of www.joehauler.com to custom build a hitch carrier for the 550 lb Super Tenere on the vans class IV 772 lb rated HD hitch. He makes the good stuff! Part of the van build is getting airbags to help with the sag and a bit more ground clearance when the bike is on the carrier. No wheelies ? The build also has a Warn winch build in to help get the bike inside for the times I don’t want it hanging out back there( stealth camping in the city or a Walmart parking lot).  It’s going to have a fridge, cooking counter, water system and even a port a potty. The solar panel and lithium power gets me all the juice I’ll need as well.

Here are a few pics of the van and build.

Updated pics from the van. The builder has until this Thursday to finish the van. I need to be in South Louisiana for Thanksgiving with family.  He’s had since the second week of August to get the van built.  It’s taken a lot longer then expected.. ? But I will say that it’s a solid build.

Solar panel is up, the sink gets a sprocket epoxied in the bottom for a Moto accent.

It’s done!! The up-fitter finally finished the interior of the YAMAHAULER this evening! It’s taken 4-6 weeks longer then expected but it’s exactly what I’ve wanted since I started dreaming back in 2016.  I’ll be back on the road by the weekend heading to moms in Cajun Country for the first thanksgiving in almost 30 years.

A good place for a walk but not in ADV boots 🙄

Added a few more parishes to the list. Took the long way to lunch in Marksville for Mexican food 😏 also a note to myself, when swapping out batteries on the Nikon, make sure the one you put in is charged too 🙄

Had a meet up with a few Cajun Teneres this weekend . A great day in the sun and almost warm weather. We poked around the southeast corner of Ft Polk in the dirt and twisty back roads. Thanks Whitney and Billy!

Passed through Canton Mississippi a few days ago to meet up with Ninke Westra. He owns one of the very few early model Yamaha Super Teneres  that were  never imported into the US. It’s a 1990 750 Super Tenere.  He’s a native from The Netherlands that brought it over  reciently when he and his American wife Nikki moved back into her hometown. Because the bike is more that 20 years old, it’s a lot easier to get the required import documents . He said it was still a few hour process to get the plates from the Mississippi Dept of Motor  Vehicles. It looks like I’ll be back in Mississippi when the bike is out of the shop for the throttle recall.

I’m back at Ninkes in Mississippi, with my bike and gear this time! Let me tell you I’ve seen my future😁 and it’s 29 years old😳😏
I took his 1990 Super Tenere for a spin today. It has about the power as the T-700 but it does weigh about 80 lbs more then the T-700 will be. I can’t wait! 😁
We head out for a ride tomorrow along the Mississippi River to an old plantation.  After I leave here I’ll continue NE to the Barbour vintage motorcycle museum in Birmingham the Atlanta to meet up with 2 more Tenere riders. I’ll spend the rest of the month down in Florida visiting friends and family.

Had a great road trip around the south. Made some new friends in Atlanta on a ride north into the Appalachian foot hills. Thanks Huckleberry and Rakesh. We even made the front page of the AltRider  FB page 😉🙌
