I’m no Iron butt rider. Don’t claim to be and will never be. Last Thursday was my longest day and most miles traveled on the T7.

I decided to take the longcut between Rissani and Merzouga, and it dished up a few challenges... This clip contains coarse language. I am Australian, after all. With thanks to Chris Scott and Ed Gill at Trans Morocco Trail. https://youtu.be/Y-W60RKKMUE

Earlier this year I rode from Ksar Ghilane to Douz, Tunisia, via the direct route across a corner of the desert. It wasn't a long distance ride as such, but was a little more involved than a day-ride. Here's some footage. If anyone is interested in route info/waypoints etc feel free to get in touch.

Hi, just arrived from Morocco. It was a Great ride of 5.400 kilometers (3.375 miles) with my Tenere 700. I rode the trip with my 25 years old nephew, he rode a classic R1150GS. Bike was ok, but the ABS light tuned on some times and I had to stop and start the engine to clear off. I used Mosko Moto soft bags, and I'm happy with this bags. I tested before the Lone Rider and Mosko is much more quality. The ride was 13 days. The mountain is Argelia, the wall separate both countries. Old constructions of Morocco. This place is called "Portuguese Jail". Amazing views. I entry for a few kilometers …

In September 2024 when RideADV announced that this event was happening I was quickly on the computer to lodge my entry and book accommodation. I was sure that a few other local Tenere Riders would be keen as well and spread the word. As is the case a few dropped by the wayside as life and other plans got in the way and in the end it was just three of us from Longreach that were going: Myself - Tenere 700 Francis - Tenere 700 World Raid Andy – Super Tenere 1200 Andy would be transporting his bike on the back of his ute as he has other plans following the ride so Francis and I were left to ride from Longreach to the start of the event in Bright some 1900kms away. Initially …

Great article in the April 2024 American Motorcyclist Magazine. A father/ son team rides a T7 from North Carolina out west and back. They camped off the bike, rode BDR's and some TAT sections and from all accounts, had a fantastic trip and cemented their bond for each other and adventure. Really cool story, might even be worth joining the AMA to read it.

Every man dies, but not every man really lives. My Tenere took me on one of my bucket list trips to Latvia and back. I lived there for some time but always wanted to go back there by motorbike. From motorways, autobahns, A roads, B roads , C roads, off roads, any roads!!! 5000+ km and counting. PS: I was riding with 2 GSes. Kept up with them at high speeds on autobahns. They struggled on twisties, B roads, D roads and off road big time. all hail T7. …

My T7 was resting at home while I spent time on one of Yamaha's excellent 2023 Tracer 900 GT+ bikes, but I just completed riding 1,696 kms on it through the Italian, Swiss and French Alps as part of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) / Edelweiss Alps Challenge II tour and, with a suggestion from @AZJW, thought I'd provide a write-up of both the tour and the Tracer for anyone interested. Edelweiss's five-day Stelvio Pass self-guided tour I'd ridden with three friends in September 2018 had been one of the top highlights of my motorcycling experiences which began in 1972 as a 12 year old, and once that decades-long Alps riding goal had been checked off …

Well, just completed our 4th day of the AZBDR! HUGE should out and thanks to @e010584 and @AZJW for meeting up with us and ZEKE giving us the personal tour of his home turf. Had a great night around the camp trading stories and learning about our new friends and fellow T7 riders, Zeke and John. As for the ride, Day 1 morning was a nice gentle, enjoyable ride from the border up and over the saddle of Coronado National Monument, then along the border (what a surprise, there wasn't a wall). The afternoon led us into a hugely rocky trail (after visiting Empire Ranch) that we should have been doing on WR's (or similar), not T7's - Ugly. Day…

If anyone wants to follow my upcoming Colombia, Central America, and Mexico motorcycle trip here's a link to my blog. Will keep it updated every few days depending on internet access. Shipping the T7 by air freight as we speak to Bogota. (By truck from WA State to Miami, then by air to Bogota.) Will fly to Bogota next week to get the bike. Hopefully won't have to wait too long in Bogota for it to arrive. Cheers. Just on the way home from a weeks riding both on and off road in the Picos de Europa with a mate on his Tiger 800. The T7 was yet again the perfect bike to be on. We did well with the weather and had no rain whilst we were riding but the roads were very sketchy in places with leaves, cow poo, cows themselves, crushed chesnuts, moss etc. All great fun and good for the riding skills. Did a couple of off road routes including the brilliant run from near Sotres to Espinama. This went up to around 5,5500 feet. Stayed at a place called Llanes, which was a lovely seaside town. People were very friendly, weather was ace and the scenery was spectacular. We deliberatel…

The view from Razorback Lookout is spectacular on a blue sky day Finally! After some long delays all my motorcycle gear had arrived. I got the chance to escape from work for a bit so I headed north to the Flinders Ranges and Arkaroola. This was the first adventure on my new Yamaha Tenere 700 and I was travelling light with the image above in my mind and a plan to travel some new roads. The plan was to do the trip in nine days. Saturday to the following Sunday. The weather had other ideas. The forecast for Saturday was bad so I departed on Sunday and came home the following Saturday having reversed and significantly mod…

Day 1, 274 miles. Decided to take the FJR-1300 on an adventure. It’s comfortable as all hell and enjoys the twisties as much as I do. Left Boise and decided to avoid the construction delays by Smith’s ferry and headed up thru Payette, Weiser, Council. stopped for a picture of Whitebird. For my friends and family back east, The battle of whitebird officially started the US Govt going to war against the Nez Perce tribe. It was a one sided battle by the Nez Perce, and below is the site of the battle. Rode from grangeville down this little known awesome motorcycle road down into Harpster, Stites, and Kooskie. Took a left across the bridge and on to Kamiah, where I am stay…

Fantastic route and great scenery. Rode from Damascus VA on the TN Border to Lewisville PA. Fair amount of pavement, but mostly all on beautiful one and two lane country roads with very little traffic. Small towns along the way were nice and friendly. Camped 3 nights in State parks and 2 nights in hotels, which was a perfect mix for me. A few sections 3 ,6, 7. were more technical with riding through G Washington and Jefferson National Forests and Bald Eagle State Park were amazing. Check out www.ridebdr.com for complete route and those in other states.

July 2022: Day 0 – 6 Jul 2022: For someone who has not seen a lot of the Northeast, the Backcountry Discovery Route crew did well to get something through Pennsylvania, New York state, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. At the end of this I will show the RoadRunner magazine route I used to get South back through Vermont. Afternoon 6 July traveled from home to Winchester VA, picked up a buddy who offered to drop me off vicinity of the start point, Hancock NY. I am not a Facebook user, but was encouraged to join the NE BDR group and that was very worthwhile. It was apparent there were a few people commencing South to Nor…
