El Cheapo Radiator Guard

Installed over existing stock radiator guard. $15 for automotive grill mesh. $11 for 3/8" fuel line to go around the perimeter to protect surfaces from sharp ends. $3 for bag of zip ties.

How I put it together:

Measured 13"x7" for the mesh. Cut out with tin snips. Measured out fuel line at 40" for perimeter. Used tin snips to cut down the length of the fuel line (not the best tool, I know, but it's what I had and it worked).

I installed the fuel line around the mesh, and marked out spots with a paint pen on where good placement for holes for the zip ties would be. Removed the fuel line and used a small flat head screwdriver as a punch, grabbed a hammer and pounded some holes into the mesh.

Reinstalled fuel line and zip tied them to the mesh. I zip tied the top part of the 'El Cheapo' to the horizontal surfaces of the existing radiatior guard and zip tied the bottom to the crash bars I already had installed.

Graceful? Nope. Pretty? Also nope. Functional? Enough. It's something and it was cheap. I'll see how it holds up.

That still sounds like quote a bit of effort to have put together. But this is not a competition, I just used wire mesh, cut it out to size and slipped it behind the OEM radiator shroud 🙂
