Improving the feel of the rear brake

Wow, this thread could maybe use some better brakes too… it’s wandering  way off track here…

Still the same.
2 weeks ago i did an advanced offroad course (did the Basis with my VFR1200X and the intermediate with the XT660Z i recently sold) and one thing the instructor liked about me was that when it went wrong i just got back up and do it again, and again.
This weekend (it's a long weekend) i planned to get the blog about it online on my website.

That's what I am talking about!

My understanding is that replacing the rubber lines with metal ones can help a lot, not just the front but back too. Has anyone else tried that? If so, was it expensive? And was it worth it?

Okay update from me. Got the exact rotor from that ebay seller and I swear its like 2mm thicker which is fine, it fits a new set of pads.

Very easy install thanks to your video too!

Down to business.

High speed braking +new sintered pads: 9.5/10

Low speed braking: 9/10

Basically as good as you can get these bikes to stop via rear without changing calliper.

Simple to install even for my first time taking the rear off myself.

Would I buy one of these rotors over the stock yamaha tenere one? Every single time, no contest at all.

After about 5 km it felt the same as after a good 30 km ride.

Cheaper, possibly thicker, construction looks good as OEM.

Just do it.

Thanks for coming back and sharing your experience on this. I think there are a few thousand people on the fence because there has been a lack of responses. I agree this is a no brainer.

And worth noting the rotor is actually the same thickness as the OEM one, and slightly lighter.

After trying pads, bleeding, adjusting pedal height, etc. I changed the rotor to the ebay $50 referenced. Best change by far, bike now has a rear brake. I can beat the ABS and lock it on dirt and get the tire to bark on pavement. It's been on for >1000 miles and is fine. I thought maybe it was so soft that it would show fast wear, but haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. Just buy one.

Did anyone else noticed the footnote in the Camel website?  I really don't believe that they are joking. So some people actually thought that they could get brake pads for a few bucks and a bike would come with it, really?

*MOTORCYCLE NOT INCLUDED* (Yup, apparently this footnote is required, we've had questions)

🤪🤣😂🤪🤣😂

We've gotten countless emails and phone calls asking if ads are for the parts or the whole bike.

On three occasions, we have had people order products, receive them, then call or email saying they need to return the product because they thought they were buying a bike not parts. I'm not kidding.

Seems the rotor from Au previously listed won't ship to US. Anyone buy similar one in the US?

I haven't had the need to try other rotors to confirm this, but I suspect any good rotor would do the job. This one just happens to be cheap (and yet still very good). You could try Motomaster, EBC, Brembo, and many resellers of rotors from China. I would stay away from Galfer in this instance. Not because Galfer are a bad brand, but because they licence the OEM rotor and we know that doesn't work.

Even our own @BellissiMotosells an EBC option and might be worth trying.

Yes, we offer the EBC option.  I currently have it, but sadly, it's not installed yet.

My time is at an all time premium lately (training for an IRONMAN triathlon), so I told myself I won't build the Tenere until I have all the parts.  Sadly, I've been waiting FOREVER for some of my special parts to arrive.

When I get everything finally installed, I plan to do a video series on the bike and it's buildup - with a review on the EBC Rotors and Pads 🙂

That is just incredible! That would be like ordering a dildo or artificial vagina molded after a porn star's woodie or snatch and returning it because he or she didn't show up at your door. "What do you mean... but but but he (she) is pictured on the box. It says it right in the product description that I would experience all glorious 11 inches of him (glorious tightness love tunnel of hers)."

I may have partially solved the rear brake issue.
I used a old trick that worked on some KTM’s that would get a spongy front brake. On the KTMs all you’d have to do is tie the lever back and let it sit overnight and the brakes would be back to normal.
I did the same with my T7’s rear brake, I hung some weight off the pedal overnight and it seems the have helped a ton.
The issue I was having was way too much pedal travel with is much better now, the pedal actually feels firm now.

I did the pad and rotor change a long time ago and the improved braking force was great but the long pedal travel still was still an issue for me when wearing stiff boots. I added the new Camel brake pedal last week and now the rear brake system is freakin' awesome.

To anyone who swapped out rotors, any comments on long-term wear? It's time for me to swap out my rear at about 48k km, and while feel/grip have been good for me, OEM is more expensive than most others.

Depending on where you are, if it’s uk, go straight to EBC. I’ve always used them in any bike. Blade stops like a demon with HH fitted. They do various types of disc.

On other bikes there's the Brembo ID on the disc/rotor. On the T7 it's blank.

But for the D11 I found the Brembo model № and measurements.

It looks like on this continent, the OEM rotors are actually the cheapest. Here are a few part numbers for the rear for reference:

OEM GYTR EBC Standard Brembo EBC Vee Galfer NG
