Tenere 700 decal kits

I’ve been playing around on Backyard designs website today, about as close to full custom as you can get without designing a set yourself. Still haven’t settled on anything yet, but I’ve been playing with different templates. Easy way to waste a few hours!

Finished my decal instalation.

Kit is from decalmoto. Semi custom - only changed the color (from yellow/blue to blue/blue).

Didn't go the full graphic kit way, but just something smaller, simple and quick to work out at home. Threw some red + white in over the existing white & blue stock graphic.

Over the weekend, did throw some carbon fibre wrap on the smaller windscreen units on either side as well. Looking pretty dapper since! 🙂

Have any of you seen the need to spray clear coat on top of the decals at the end?  Would that help protect them a bit, or just not worth the trouble?

Most decals for these kind of bikes are the protection.
They are pretty thick making it easier to stretch and shrink  with a heat gun plus can have some impact. When they get damaged it's also easy to replace.
When you put clear coat on it they get easily scratched and almost impossible to replace.
Mine are on almost a year and over 20k km in sun, rain, snow, mud and crashes. There are a few edges not perfect any more but overall still looking great.

Has anyone installed a decal kit that looks good with an Acerbis tank on a black bike?

Are there any sets specifically for the Acerbis tank? I only know perforated standard sets that have to be adjusted when gluing

So do the decal kits go over the original decals that are sealed under clear coat?

Decals are not under clear coat.
I removed them with just a little heat and one T700 logo i got off very well and stuck it on my helmet.
Road bikes have the logos often under a clear coat but most of the time just those on the tank to protect it from petrol that may me spilled.
Many after market decal kits also are very thick and work as a protection against impact.

Also on the side panels?
In that case just go over.
Take decals off when not under a clear coat is just because they can work up when heating the new decals when applying and when you want to take them off later for whatever reason the OEM decals will come with it anyway.

On the glossy black parts of my 2022 Raven, all the decals were clearcoated.  Also confirmed by Upshift Moto, who sold me my really nice decal kit.  If they're clearcoated, don't try to take off the OEM decals with a heat gun or you'll make a mess.

On the other hand, the new decals are so robust and slick that now I'm having trouble getting tank gripper pads to stick to them.

The matte black plastic pieces like the stuff in front of the radiator and under the tail section are of course not clearcoated.
