New PP plastic fairing sets from RTech, Italy

Finally got round to fitting the plastics kit.

Very good fit and easy to install. Only minor issue was on the front panel lower attachment hole. They’ve moulded a 17mm hole, standard is around 12mm.

No biggie, will source an over sized bolt/washer combo but might drop R Tech an email, maybe something they can sort on future moulds.

😂Doomed!

Take the rubber cushing from the inner original triangle panel, mount it to the new panel and go for it!

On the first glance I had the same idea as you...

I had plans for  custom graphics but haven’t been successful in getting anyone to make them up so might just keep it simple. Think it needs something to break up the vast expanse of white 🤔

I have considered some red stickers, but am not sure yet. I'm running red Acerbis handguards and frame protectors.

I’ve ordered a basic T7 sticker kit in red,  will see how that looks.

Finally!

Before:

After:

As you can see, the OEM side panels are 100% compatible with RTech's fairings - like the black/white mix and don't plan to install the white side panels:

Nice detail on the tank cover, notice the moulded grippy (non-glossy) stripe on the side:

Really like the look, but some red stickers will be added soon.

Fit is really good, only very minor issues during installation - fixed by applying pressure on the panels until the mounting holes align perfectly.

Looking good 👍. Never thought to leave the original side panels, just assumed they wouldn’t fit .

like you I have the Yam gripper patches but the R tech ones seem to be ok grip wise, won’t know for sure until I give it a proper run off road.

If you don't like the shiny looks of the new panels there's a solution for that I found out by fortune 😉

Apply some WD40 with a soft cloth to the clean panels and remove it after some time by using whatever you use for cleaning your bike. I took some alkohol (no, not what you think...) and rubbed the remainings of the WD40 off the panels.

Received my set in the USA.  All in about $240USD.  Ordered through WD racing in Italy.  I also have the Camel ADV side panels.

Thinking I'm going to do a dark camo wrap on the aftermarket plastics and keep the OEM ones in storage.  Don't really know, but couldn't resist having extra plastics laying around for a couple hundred dollars.

As announced I tried again and cut the stay on the front side fairing to see if it fits w/o it.  No chance at all. The Acerbis tank is way too wide for the RTech plastics.

There are gaps and in other places too much material you can't cut for stability here and there. And even if you mount it with force it looks ugly where the vent opening was before.

So in the end Acerbis tank and RTech plastic are a no go at all. The back covers are ok but the front ... Looks like a bike size L should fit into S 😉

its pitty mate.   but i heard with heat you can bend a few things.  how ever i dont know how far you can take it.

if it were poseble i would try to bend the fin out instead of cutting it.  but again i have no clue of that plastic allows such movement

The RTech fairing is too narrow to the tank in different places. You have no chance to modify it with acceptable effort to get a satisfying result. I stay with the Camel fairings. That's more than good enough and fits the Acerbis tank.

I recently purchased and installed a kit as well. For what its worth, the plastics were flawless and very easy to install. I didin't have any issues that were not my own fault. I also think they look great 🙂 Thanks for the link to the graphics!!

Caveat: Those fairings don't protect the tank from getting scratched during stupid balance exercises next to a boulder 😉

BUT even though it was only a tipover from standstill, those fairings did not break at all (temps were around 8°C).

I guess I'll have to live with a dented tank now. To be fair, even my Kedo Rally crashbars would probably have failed there, I placed my left foot on a big boulder to practice dabbing/stopping. Unfortunately, the boulder was slippery 😕

Ouch! I feel like some vinyl graphics would cover that up nicely 😉

True! But I now tend to "wear scars with pride" 😉

Just checked the price for a new tank, roughly 650 €. Think I'll skip on that.
