What have you done for your T7 today?

Recently, I installed  Barkbusters Storm handguards,  Huzar high exhaust and nylon front fender screws.

I like narrow shape of the bike with the Huzar exhaust.

Mods so far and ratings:

Barkbusters- 8/10

Bumot soft panniers and hard top box, tool box-9/10 (Bulgarian company with good prices and excellent build quality)

Adventure Spec bash guard-7/10 Would be great to see a suspension link extension.

Adventure Spec upper crash bars-10/10 Great fit and one of the few aluminum options so super light.

Leo Vince header and can-8/10-love the sound and lift in performance.

Cyclops Aurora lights-10/10-excellent spots and a super bright amber daytime light that dramatically improves visibility.

R & G tail tidy-7/10-looks much better.

Garmin Zumo XT-9/10-what a great piece of gear.  Would be 10 but for the very high price.

R & G seat hardware to make 1 piece-7/10-much better but a tad hard to close seat.

Yamaha heated grips-5/10-just ok.

I might go with the black barkbusters. 

Great setup but the white doesn't have the vivid beautiful white of the bike.

Nice stuff you put together.

A simple change.

Rotated the gear change arm at the top end, to lower the angle of the lever.

Remove the allen head bolt, slide the arm off the spline and rotate one notch.

Slide the arm back on and tighten the allen head bolt.

 

More comfortable for the angle of my foot in relation to the lever.

Nice one!  I did the same just a few nights ago but found that one full notch was a bit too much.  Instead I loosened the lock nuts on the connecting rod and adjusted there for a more minor adjustment.  Fortunately for me I needed to raise the arm not lower it so in effect that tightened the connecting rods threads rather than loosened them. Your way is the better way to lower the shifter arm.

Thanks. One notch for me is about perfect.

Otherwise, I have to rotate my ankle uncomfortably to downshift, and a high lift to upshift.

Is the finish the same on the two black covers I outlined in red?  It looks like the one you swapped over is glossier than the one under/behind it.  I was thinking of buying the black one for my blue bike, but if they are different finishes, I might just paint over the existing black / gray.  Then I could just put vinyl over the tank.

I will take a close up today for you. I think they are the same as the tank cover. Almost matte. Also noticed the Ice coloured pieces are all black and have been painted that horrible ice colour...the ICE is different to ever colour on the red bike. (its getting a sticker kit to cover it).

 

Personally, i would sand and paint it. Sand between each coat and plenty of clear coats. I an considering that for the tail piece on the black bike...

haha most all of the gear is already fitted up... I canceled my order for the OEM Low seat since the lowering links put me right where I like to be. Here's what the build sheet looks like thus far:

Well, at almost 70, I think I have finally found the closest thing to a "perfect bike" for me. After 6 weeks of ownership I now have almost 800 miles on my T7. The motor feels broke in and I do notice the difference. This engine is amazing!
I needed to do a few things to make it my bike. I still have a few more to do. Here is what I have done so far:(as of 5pm Dec. 26th, 2020) HAH!!!

Wings exhaust. Fantastic sound and build quality.
ProTaper bars
Gilles clutch and brake levers
Givi windscreen
MRA blade
Doubletake mirror - the best!
Single attach point Bark Busters with Storm guard covers
Set sag for me
SW center stand works just like it should
JM 16 tooth counter sprocket - Huge improvement for me. I feel the T7 has too close ratio of a tranny for me. This really made it right for me.
Dropped triple tree 20mm much better feel in the front end. I don't need all that shock travel. Too old to imitate Pol!

You are an inspiration for me just turning 60. Great choices on options and dialing the bike in for your needs. 

I really wanted to love my GS but it never happened and although I never owned a Royal Enfield I get it.

Had a Ural Gear Up for long enough to buy all the swag. I hit a deer with the side hack and that probably kept me from getting killed so we're even. 

Miss so many of the great bikes I've owned but the T7 is a keeper. 

I will always keep my dearest friend,  my DR650 but I already feel the same way about the T7.  They compliment each other in so many ways. Was hoping to make a run to Alaska this 2021 but doesn't look promising for obvious reasons.  I have a year to sort out who I throw a leg over that one but I'm leaning towards the T7....it's just that bike.

Hello everybody

New to this forum and owner of a Blue T7 for two weeks

I will share my experience so far

I have been riding an Africa Twin for several years, but as I get older ( I am 60 ), picking up the bike when riding off-road was getting more difficult, so the 25-kg-lighter of the T7 "seduced" me.

With 1,200 km on the odo and 1 off-road ride to test the bike and try the suspension adjustment, I am very happy with the bike.

It is true that, in comparison with a 100 HP engine, you loose some performance on-road, but what you gain off-road due to the lighter weith,  its worth to me. I like off-roading, and for on-road trips, I have another bike.

Things I have done to the bike that have worked great so far:

1) Weight savings 

- Lithium battery

- Full exhaust ( MIVV header + Storm Inox Slip-on )

- Tail Tidy ( T7 Rally )+ Led blinkers ( cheap Chinese )

2) Performance

- High flow air filter ( DNA )

- Rapid Bike fuel control unit ( to adjust to the air filter ( "more air in" ) and the full exhaust ( "more air out" ) )

- Shock Spring ( 80 NM progressive )

3) Convenience

- Center Stand ( OEM - it is big and heavy - in "evaluation" )

- Side pads ( OEM - more grip when standing )

- Chain guide ( OEM )

- Rear Rack ( AS - Aluminium = Lighter )

- Tubeless kit + blocks tires ( Anlas Capra X - similar performance than Karoo 3 and TKC 80 but last 25%  more km. )

- Heated Grips ( Daytona - no separate on-off switch to install )

4) Protection

- Skid Plate ( AXP - HDPE plastic = Lighter )

- Engine Case covers ( R&G - plastic - instead of engine guards  )

- Hand Guards ( Acerbis X-Factor )

- Headlight Guard ( Powerbronze )

- High Crashbars ( AS - Aluminium = Lighter )

- Side rack ( AS - Aluminum = Lighter, also good for soft luggage )

- Radiator Guard ( Evotech - goes behind OEM protection )

5) Others

- High Fender Kit ( ADV Camel )

- Anti-bobble-head ( ADV Camel )

- Tool Box - ( plastic tube )

- GPS mount ( Rally Raid ) + power connection

- Auxiliary lights ( PIAA  1100p - small and very bright ) 

 

To be changed 

- Brake and Cluch levers - OEM are too long for me

 

In evaluation - more off-road riding needed

- Front suspension - I am 1,74 and 74 kg, so the OEM spring rate is OK for me. After more riding I will determine if I need an upgrade for my riding style.

- Rear Shock - With the 80 NM progressive and the adjustments that the OEM shock provides, it seems to work ok for me, although on off-road,  I am at almost full closed rebound. On compression I still have some adjustment left ( the progressive spring helps here ). More riding needed.

@JMRS which tubeless kit did u use?

Actually is not a tubeless Kit.

The product is similar to the OUTEX kit (japan), but made in USA

It is sold in rolls, not a kit cut to fit the wheels of a particular size.

You have to take the wheels to the dealer and he will cut the "tapes" to the right size and installed them.

The front wheel of the T7 is 1.85 wide, which is quite narrow for this type of tubeless system.

The rear wheel should be OK.

I am monitoring how it woks
