Installed my chain guard, fork protectors, speed bleeders and dressed the swingarm up to give it a bit of a rally feel.

And as you can see in the first and last picture the Klim sticker also covers up a scratch :classic_rolleyes:
This will also be my blog subject for next weekends blog on my site.

So, when I ordered the Acerbis tank, I wasn't sure if the bars would clear the tank. Accordingly I bought a set of the Rox Pivoting Risers.

True to form, when the tank was fitted, in my favoured bar position, it was tight on full lock (mainly the hand guard brackets), so rather than adjust from 'my perfect', decided to give the risers a crack. I could adjust the BarkBuster brackets a little, but not enough.

The Rox are a well made piece of kit for sure. Unusual, as the risers clamp into the OEM clamp, then the handlebar into the risers. A pig to fit, as you literally have no access to one side when the other is tight, but a little fiddling and they're on and strong.

No cable issues at all, but did relocated the clutch cable below the BarkBusters bracket, as it was fouling a little on full right lock.

Had a quick ride and half of me enjoyed and the other half is set in his ways and wants to go back to standard. Standing up though is a revelation - ultimate position, so just need to see how they feel on the road.

I need to get out on a longer ride.

The blog for the updates from last week is live

Today i changed my Motea high crashbar for the Heavy Duty Enduro and changed the oil and filter, i put Kroon Expulsa RR 10W40 full synthetic in.
When i had both crashbars off i weighted me holding them and the difference is 1,7kg less for the HD Enduro.
Tomorrow i have to change the AS skidplate as expected to have that one working with the low mounted crashbars.
I also got an unexpected package from my tyre dealer, he should give me a quote for a Michelin Anakee Wild for the T7 and oil plus filter for the Crosstourer but he mixed some things up and he send me the order. When i called him about it he admitted his mistake and asked if i would accept the shipment if he gave me a 20% extra discount.
He already had a decent price for the Wild so i agreed and i can pay him next month so i also can fit a new rear tyre tomorrow also (did need a new rear tyre anyway).
The Motea high crashbar just before cleaning the bike.

And the new tyre... As you can see not in the same order.

It's not a Yamaha dealer but the largest motorcycle tyre importer in the Netherlands.
Does also other maintenance product like brakepads, oil and stuff like that.

I got humbled. Thought I'd try replacing the tube on my rear just for practice and mount up a different set of rubber that originally came on my bike. Managed to break the bead of the conti trail attack 2, pulled the old tube. Eventually worked the tire off the rim. Then came time to mount the tractionator rallz. Holy hell ha ha. Never managed to mount it, the last 1/4 of the tire I couldn't get it over the rim. I had the smaller version of MP bead breaker on hand. Maybe if I had a 3rd big boy spoon... maybe. Glad I learned in February I'm not man enough patch a flat

Fresh mount is mostly more difficult, once fitted and have to take it off on the road it probably will be easier.
For those situations i can recommend the bead pro tyre irons.

I love my Motoz tires, but man, you need to get them hot and really work it.  I wouldn't even try to do it with spoons, but the olmax motors changer pops em on effortlessly.

Things are so bloody stiff they're basically runflats.

Yeah, Repairing a tube on the side of the road with the motoz on would be a world of fun. I ordered a bead buddy to see if that would help out. If nothing else, it's something that could make life easier roadside with any other tire and small enough to throw in the tool kit

I think the zip-tie method is used to seat the bead, not get the tire over the rim.

I always use at least 3 tire spoons when changing a tire in the garage. I admit though, I don't bring 3 spoons within on the road. Ill have to think about that one a little more myself.

@frivoloushobby I found a few helpful hints in both of these vids. I'm running Rallz front and rear and, ha ha after practicing at home, they are pretty easily managed with spoons. Especially compared to the rear OEM Pirelli, which I gave up on and took to a local shop before dealing with it on the road!

I'll have to check these out! Thanks! I saw another video where a few small blocks of 1×4in wood were wedged in to make sure the bead stayed in the drop center of the rim

I had the AS skidplate adapted to the HD Enduro crashbars. Didn't need to cut but had a go with a mallet and reshaped the sides.

Bike looks much better without the high crashbar.
IMG_20220213_174701.thumb.jpg.5318a9c819d5a96c4954f589607672ee.jpg

Also changed the rear tyre for a fresh Anakee Wild and put new rear brakepads on.
Didn't last long, assuming they where still original they lasted 7500km. Offroad you use the rear a lot more but still.
Luckily i had a pair for the 660 lying around and they are the same size and shape so i didn't have to take it apart next week again.

Hi Ray, can you show a picture from the front, to see how wide the HD enduro crashbar looks like? Indeed better look then the previous one.

Was planning on painting my rear plastics white this weekend, but ran into a snag with the "Complete" kit I purchased.  Anyway, just decided to wing it and layered the metallic and clear coat on top of the grey primer.  Results were fantastic.1504254365_ScreenShot2022-02-13at12_15_16PM.thumb.jpg.7abb118f5ff68c44849fff82581fc151.jpg2143766395_ScreenShot2022-02-13at12_15_28PM.thumb.jpg.1d33da10b931f99e527d2d976586089c.jpg1902510238_ScreenShot2022-02-13at12_17_40PM.thumb.jpg.2420b05a44ba3d700690cf1ada5714b6.jpg

Just installed Blueskysea dv988 front and rear dash cam. Did a review of the unit a while back comparing it with a more expensive unit. Daytime they were identical. I wanted the rear cam to photo my friends when off road. Hard to see what they are accomplishing recording from the rear.
here is my review   Comments always welcome. ( the bike in the background is my couch. 2007 Yamaha venture.

There are only a few tire types/brands I've changed where their stiff sidewalls made keeping the bead in the middle of the rim nearly impossible (Dunlop and Heidenau are two of them). In those cases, I use old wine bottle corks inserted around the rim to keep the bead in the center as the tire is spooned on or off. I keep a bunch of corks in my toolbox for this and for many other uses I've found on various motorcycles.

Also, as seen in the first pic below, I've found that pieces of old bicycle road tires and pieces of an old Frisbee's outer edge make excellent rim protectors for motorcycle tire changing.
