What have you done for your T7 today?

Yesterday i went to JJ Suspension to discuss the possibilities for an upgrade.
The OEM is not real bad but it will get bad very quickly and servicing can cause headache and is probably more a waste of money than a good investment.
John is an honest guy and will tell you a cheap kit is enough when it is but just a look at my bike was already a hint for him what questions to ask to give the best advice and a cheap kit would not it for me... go figure.
Put the XTZ660 back up for sale now the sun came out again to finance one of the 2 options he gave me.
Both options are Touratech and will be a good kit with Hyperpro springs in the front and a middle class rear shock or the high end kit with closed cartridge front suspension and a fully adjustable rear shock that can handle quick adjusting when i go on a long trip with full luggage.
It's a €1400 price difference (double of the just good option) and with that difference it seems like an easy choice but it isn't.

The Evotech radiator guards I ordered way back finally arrived, and I picked up some Grip Puppies to try out when I picked them up. The radiator guard and the Grip Puppies on the LHS were a perfect fit off the bat, although I had to trim the ones on the RHS a bit, so I guess the stock grips are actually slightly asymmetric or mine is just weird. Now I just need to get used to the added girth of my new grips.

My ignorant ass was totally unaware that heated grips would be slightly thicker. When I put them on I just sat there going "is it just me, or are these grips thicker... ?" I've since gotten used to it and sat on someone elses T7 with stock grips and then had to think "wow why are these grips so skinny? Feels weird"

It won't take long 😛

Picked up the bike last weekend and added the B&B Rear Compact Tail Rack with pillion handles right away for a ride I was doing.  ….it’s a bit pricey but this thing is SOLID!  …build quality is top notch!  Worked great to carry a small duffel on the ride.

This weekend I added Bark Busters in preparation for a ride in Moab I’ll be doing in a couple weeks…. In other threads, people mentioned problems with the aluminum frames coming into contact with clutch cable or other components… But I did not have any trouble with mine.  That’s said, I did have a little trouble with the clutch side handlebar insert not completely tightening down… Just seems to spin inside the handlebar so, there’s that…. Gotta address that before the ride…

How do you feel about those grab handles? From the photos I've seen it feels like it's placed too far back from the handlebars, which might be an issue when trying to get leverage on the bike especially when you're not a big guy like me.

I haven’t had the opportunity to use them for lifting the bike yet but yes, they’re a couple inches further back than the factory grab handle.  With the wheel straight, It’s a bit of a stretch for me….with the wheel fully left or right, it’s doable.

I tested the LED bar.
Had to work late (standard on Mondays) so i took the offroad commute home in the dark.
I'm a bit confused because i have plenty of light but when i try to cover the standard headlights it looks like the LED bar doesn't give very much light.
Maybe it's the combo with the standard light, i'm happy with it anyway.

Installed Hyperpro progressive spring kit.

Pretty straight forward but it helps to have a helper. Same kit as the Touratech kit just $100 less.

Install ADVMoto install video

Installed some micro turn signals since my huzar melted my other set.

lol yeah, you've got to be careful about signal to exhaust outlet placement for sure 😉

It's a great excuse to mount mini signals anyways, though, the stockers are just waiting to be broken.

Put Galfer pads in the rear. Hopefully it will give the rear a little more bite and feel than the stock pads.

Didn't do anything but i ordered an upgrade for the suspension....

Lot's of people buy a complete motorcycle for it but i went by at a suspension specialist with several brands in his sales line.
We spent over an hour talking about what i do and how long i planned to keep the bike to get to 2 options.
Both options where explained with opened examples to show what they do exactly and why he thinks it is the best option. Just after a quick look at my bike in front of the shop he knew what questions to ask, weather i go offroad with it or not was not one of them because the mud already answered that question. The places where the mud ended up also answered the question if i go easy or not...
I chose to take the expensive option with a closed cartridge front and fully adjustable rear with all the bells and whistles so i can also switch easy between luggage options.
Delivery time is between 3 and 4 weeks and i have a advanced training booked on the second of April, he does his best to have it in time to let me have double the fun with the new suspension.

I just got in the same rear shock. Haven’t installed it yet. Touratech is awesome.

I love the Camel anti bobble head. I ride off road a lot and couldn't see the screen at all. It is instantly solid over any terrain.  I wrote a review about it. I am glad you supported Camel ADV by purchasing their product and not an off short knock off. Good on ya!

I want the one finger clutch but I have oem crash bars and they won’t fit. Thinking of Changing out the crash bars so the 1 finger clutch will fit

Yes. I'm curious to see how it feels. The friction zone as well as the clutch pull in stock form leave a bit to be desired. Not the worst I've used by far. But excited for the improvement in both.

There is some gap between lever and bars. What if you use center hole and cut off the extra?
