Just a spin around my local area.

This part of Sweden has some great back roads and the area in general has been populated for thousands of years so the surroundings are dotted with historic sites.

There are actually some buriel sites that are 5,000 years old!

Lakes in abundance.

Church from 1100 something

Tree lined narrow roads

Rewards waiting at home. Sourdough bread with avocado and strawberries, sprinkled with olive oil and chili.

Dry Riesling is the icing on the cake.

Followed an obstacle training from Adventureshield, the Netherlands, last weekend.
An afternoon driving over logs, stones and bumps.
Fun to do and learned extra skills.

That's just amazing Ray! I'm jealous as hell. Enjoy your ride and stay safe.

Red sticker season is closed here in Cali so local OHV riding is no-go for my MX bikes. But the Tenere …

All depends on the riding you do, for sure. I predominantly run offroad.

A beautiful day riding with my cousin Monday on a chunk of the MABDR through several PA state forests.

You should protect the radiator no matter the fender if you do any off road as even the smallest debris chucked at it will damage the fins, reduce cooling and cause problems . A budget way is simply to wrap your louvres in screen purchased from your local hardware store. All my dirt bikes are done this way. For the T7 I purchased the overly expensive but nicer looking OEM option. 😂

An unusual angle...

Took a new T7 riding buddy into the woods this evening for his first off road spin on the T7.

Been working on dialing in the suspension clickers. Fortunately stock on this bike is fairly close to my needs.

I took a ride southwards yesterday starting just after 7 am to visit a couple of Rally points.

The forecast, weather-wise, was good so, with winter linings out, riding jeans instead of the warmer textiles and summer gloves I was chilled right through by around 8 am.

I took 'lesser-roads' route southwards and things warmed slowly as the morning progressed and by the time I got to The Commons in Co. Tipperary things were heated up quite nicely.

I reached my first stop by around 10:30.

There's a monument there to quite an accomplished athlete in his time.

I'd never heard of John Joe Barry but it seems he was quite a celebrity in his day.

2.thumb.jpg.5d19e2a3ed6c253d062021be67d845db.jpg

John Joe Barry broke the Irish record over three miles, two miles and one mile. In 1949, he won the British A.A.A. title over three miles and also won the U.S. championship over one mile distance. He broke the world record for the two mile and represented at both 1500 meters and 5000 meters at the 1948 Olympic Games in London. He wrote an autobiography naturally called the “Ballincurry Hare”, which chronicles the ups and downs of his colourful lifestyle and career.

Athletics once played a big part in my own life so I particularly enjoyed discovering this spot and auld John Joe.

It was short ride from there to Duninga, Baracore, in Kilkenny.

There's a derelict Mill there.

I don't know much of its history 'cept it was built in 1800 and fell into disuse sometime in the 1970's.
It's quite a nice ruin though...if that makes sense?

I'd taken a very leisurely ride southwards but made quite good time.

I needed to be home for around 5 pm but still had a bit of time to kill.

I headed off roughly north-eastwards with a half plan to take in a bit of the Wicklow mountains.

I enjoy riding mountain roadways and particularly if there's dirt or gravel options.

There's a few old mines in Wicklow where they used to extract tin and copper.

I Googled a couple and decided to try to fit visiting one into my day.

The mountains were pretty much void of traffic...

One tar topped road I was on culminated in a small car park just past which was a concrete causeway across a stream.

The roadways turned to gravel on the other side which was just fine...

.....except that they just kept petering out at barriers restricting vehicular access.

13.thumb.JPG.355ce2b176762e3d9761d2cf77112d28.JPG

I met a feller on an Royal Enfield Himalayan who was encountering the same issue.

I was running out of time by now so doubled back to where my sat nav was more comfortable and pressed 'Home'.

An hour or so's nice riding through the Wicklow hills saw me south of Dublin.

14.thumb.JPG.3fa810f34322788966c2fa9511c2a778.JPG

In order to be home on time I took a stretch of motorway when I got nearer to civilisation.

Boring but also good, inasmuch as it proved the T7 with its now a little taller gearing, more than adequate for longer freeway riding.

Only when absolutely necessary of course.

Had a really enjoyable full day's biking.  500+ kms

Great write up and photos...superb 👌 Cheers,  Steve

North Cape was a bit of a anti climax. Non visibility and to get a coffee and something to eat you have to buy a ticket to the main building where you also have access to the museum... Price €31!

I don't care about musea so if coffee and a snack would cost €9,- it will mean it costs €40.

So just registered myself with a few pictures and rode back...

Took a cabin because i haf enough of the rain after 4 days.

Hooefully Finland has a better climate.
