Is it just me or is it a bit tedious to unscrew two Hex 4 bolts to get the rider's saddle removed? After opening the passenger's saddle with the dash key? Since the rider's saddle is held in place by two screws M6 x 25 mm I screwed them back in upside down. With some Loctite. And with a 2 mm hole after about 5 mm from the tip per screw. The saddle can now be slipped over the two screws and held in place with two R-Clips. Which ones I don't have yet—that's why in the pic there are two paper clips for the moment … Now the saddle will be removed in a few seconds.

Or this...Use two clips per pin; one to hold the pin in place and the other to hold the seat down.

You don’t need clips at all. Just install the bolts upside down and the passenger seat holds it on.

I don’t even have the posts on any more. They were in the way of the seat concept one piece comfort seat. I have two piece now and never put them back on.

When I first got my bike I removed the seat I and tossed the bolts onto the bench and never bothered to re-install them. The rear seat seemed to hold the front seat in place just fine.  I'm now running a one piece seat but not having the bolts on the two piece never caused me any trouble.

Rally seat - one piece!

Exactly - or alternatively the "one-piece comfort" with "Yamaha" on the sides (included in European "Rally Edition" bikes, to make things complicated). One-piece comfort is only 2cm higher than the OEM seat, Rally 4 cm.

Just remember:

Rally seat: +4 cm, NO decal on the side, three "ribs" in the pillion area

SBU-YAM-T700-RA-Rallye-Sitzbank-Yamaha-T

The Tenere likes it dirty! With this Rallye seat you can ride the Tenere like a real Off-Road bike. Improved genuine Rally look. Ergonomic and…

Comfort seat: +2 cm, Yamaha decal on the side

SBU-YAM-T700-ET-Einteilige-Sitzbank-Yama

One-piece Comfort Seat for the Yamaha Tenere 700 Ergonomic and optical upgrade for the standard Tenere. Replaces oem standard 2-pieces seat with…

And there is @Seat Concepts of course!

The comfort seat looks good with the logo.

Not sure if it is an option in Oz as we didn't get the "rally" edition.

I would like to hear what it is like in comparison to the standard rally seat.

Currently 40°C outside so doing a bit of net surfing 😀

I've never ridden it, but it can't be worse than the stock seat 😂

Looks fine on the bikes. It seems like Yamaha don't list it anymore on their website, at least I couldn't find it in the accessories section.

I have the +40mm rally seat - I was unaware the +20 was classed as a ‘comfort’ seat

I don’t think it is @Lewie, they feel stock compared to my rally seat. You can tell people with +40s. They walk normally when they get there. 😁

Why are so many people obsessed with coloured dashboards? I find them very distracting.
The "blend" OEM is very readable and the lack of colour make the warning lights stand out making them more obvious when something goes wrong and one of them light up.

I wish there was a “dim” option for the dash. I find it to be too bright at 5am.

It's there. I can't remember now how it's done, you can refer to the manual

Decided to try out/ install  a pair of Barkbuster BBZ Cold Weather handguard covers before the next cold front arrives and see how they do. Not as robust as some in coverage but seem like a decent compromise with a  decent pocket to keep the wind off the mitts.

These are the universal fit model but didn't require much fussing to get into place. I used cable ties on the outer edge rather than mount them with the handguard bolt so they would be easier to pop on and off as desired.

The only time I used a "roll chart" was on a 30 bike ( 300 mile)  DS  group ride split into teams of 3. WE WON  THE AWARD FOR THE GROUP THAT GOT LOST THE MOST!
