The only time I used a "roll chart" was on a 30 bike ( 300 mile)  DS  group ride split into teams of 3. WE WON  THE AWARD FOR THE GROUP THAT GOT LOST THE MOST!

This is a two day 700km round trip so I better not get lost or will be sleeping rough!

Finally got a semi-decent workbench in my garage (plus an old shelf). Just for me. No kids stuff. No gardening stuff.

What have I done?  (Cameras, aux lights, Rapid evo, canister delete, heated grips, voided warranty, discovered leaking front caliper nipple, shop fitted crash bars not bolted up tight, found a roasted snail behind starter, oh -and salted roads can even rust your chain!). Much lighter now though.

Made a new mount for my Active 2 Tab.  1.2mm aluminium, spring loaded sliding top to lock it in place. This is version 2. With it tightened against the display I've had zero issues with wobbling display cluster.

Rode it! My T7's been sitting patiently while I've been spending most of my time piling miles on my new-to-me R1200RT, but today the T7 got its battery charged the fun way for a few hours on a lot of twisty mountain and back roads.

Reminded again how much I love this bike, and confirmed the RT is going to be spending most of the spring, summer and fall in the garage corner.

The roasted snail is my favorite, by far! 😂

I also found my chain to be not too shy of rusting (on the outside). Probably because I like it to be quite dry not to attract too much dirt.

HEED.  I'm currently awaiting the shipment.

This is my next choice.  Have OEM now, but don't like them.  They've bent in a lot, and I'm always kind of nervous of how they mount to the engine.  Also, while I've got small bags that fit perfectly inside the loops on the OEM bars, the Heed Bunker Bar bags are much nicer.  I've got Heed rear bars on my T7 now, and I'm extremely impressed with how solid and well made they are.  Much, much stronger and better put together than the OEM front bars.

You don’t need clips at all. Just install the bolts upside down and the passenger seat holds it on.

Yep.  Easiest I find is to install the "sleeve/washer things" upside down, then screw the bolts back down into them so the sleeves are upside down but the bolts just screwed in as they were before.  Result is a couple nice posts.  Did that till I got the SC Tall Rally.

I've never ridden it, but it can't be worse than the stock seat 😂

Looks fine on the bikes. It seems like Yamaha don't list it anymore on their website, at least I couldn't find it in the accessories section.

Sadly, at least in my experience both single piece Yamaha seats sold out pretty fast and they apparently just didn't make any more.  Seems weird to me, but I tried to get either of the one piece seats from Yamaha for a long, long time without any luck at all.  The odd shop that showed one would inevitably cancel the sale saying they were out of stock later.

The Seat Concepts seats are very nice, though.  Very nice.

Pineapple filters unite!  Pretty happy with mine.  They're waterproof (inasmuch as an air filter like this can be), and still move a very significant amount of air due to the silly amount of surface area.   Very good product.  For those of us in North America, they won't sell these to us directly on their website due to a brand licensing issue, but they WILL sell one without the branding directly if you shoot them an email.  Pretty reasonably priced, and the currency exchange is beneficial too.

I have heated jacket, pants, gloves and grips. Recently I rode for a few hours in -2C and although I knew it was going to warm up  in a few hours, I still thought I was crazy for doing it. If the heated gear failed or the whole bike, I didn't have enough clothing on to not die. Dumb- as I was on country roads without any houses or businesses to save my butt. Won't be doing that again alone.

Yanked the plastics off so I could pull the tank and replace the stock front brake line to the ABS unit with the Spiegler Braided line that came in the kit from Motoswiss.

Pulling the plastics and tank off gets pretty straight forward after a few repetitions. I think this is R&R #3 or #4 for me on the tank. I knowing what I  will need and where all the fasteners are and where they go back to speeds up the process considerably. I'm starting to adjust to thinking in Japanese when working on this bike. 🙂

All the fasteners involved...

I'd have liked the Spiegler line just a wee bit better had they put a slight sideways sweep in the connecter at the ABS housing.

Yep, when opening up stuff that needs to stay extremely clean I always wash up first. Having to make an emergency repair in the field is one thing,  taking chances on dirt getting places it shouldn't when working at home is quite another.

Besides, washing the built up grime now and then is a great way to spot those little things that need some attention!

Have begun installation of Tractive closed cartridges. Fork legs removed, old cartridges dismounted, new cartridges installed. Replaced the bushings and fork seals on the way.

Everything went smooth so far except one cartridge bolt which couldn't be torqued at first - some helpful tips from @Ray Ride4life finally solved the problem.

Will post a detailed installation review once I've finished the job.

Old cartridges:

Fork legs with new stuff installed awaiting the next day (note the special tools!):

Once you know for sure you like the change you can probably part out the OEM internals piece by piece to unfortunate souls who broke something in the process of doing a rebuild and re-coop some of the money spent!

Not as technical as bits I am seeing on here, but some rather simple ones last afternoon 🙂

1) Colemans Maddog seat cover - Has made a difference to the time it takes for sore butt to begin, 3 hours later on the saddle & wasn't one bit sore or uncomfortable as I used to be with the stock seat.

IMG_3844-min.jpg.c92e536fbe90a983eb95a0774ab862d9.jpg

2) Aluminum Mesh insert under the radiator guard - This one took me a while to get down to doing, only because I have been lazy and wasn't too sure if the brake line leading to the ABS unit would come off easy or not. Well it did not come off on the right side upper part of the OEM guard, so meekly moved the guard enough to slide the mesh under. Have been using this aluminum mesh on all past bikes so far and it is a super economical way to give the radiator some protection

IMG_3848-min.jpg.5be92920db427e0fca47af506cd1775a.jpg

3) Headlight protector  - Took a while for this one to reach me due to shipping delays, but it finally arrived and I am just happy to have one.

Do have a question though from when I pulled the side panels off, there are these 2 slots on the inside which look like they are meant for something to mount onto them. Anyone know what these slots are for?

I think these mark the place for the foam strip to go but they're already missing i see.
Mine also fell off, they didn't used the best glue or double sided tape on the T7.
