Tenere 700 Luggage options

Haven't seen anybody else using the Moose ADV1 dry saddlebags.

Got both of these for super cheap - about $130 Canadian. Can sit on the rear without racks or extra straps. Although it will rub the paint like the other rackless options when you're bouncing around offroad. Roll bags so very waterproof and you can cinch them right down.

Pretty easy to take on and off, the material seems very strong and thick, has a hard backing, rings on the sides for strapping accessories to. Only negatives I've found of them is the adjustment straps are a bit short, limiting your options for attachment points and the buckles are made out of plastic clips.

But at that price even if they only last a season or 2 because of the buckles I'd say they've served their purpose.

I got 20L ones each side and built a little sheet metal exhaust heat shield so they don't melt on it. I think eventually I'll get the dirtracks soft pannier mounts for them to keep them off the plastic. Pretty sure the 30L ones would fit with the same setup I have but I don't really need that much storage. The saddlebags and my big roll bag easily fit all my items.

Definitely worth considering if you don't want to drop hundreds on a Kreiga or Enduristan rackess setup!

I reckon they’d fit well over my andystrapz stays. 👍

If they still made them.
anyone tried the givi rack less  base for mounting your own choice of bags on? Are they big enough for 20L bags angled away from the exhaust? Ideally I’d like the mosko (and other) type of base (on its own) but with my choice of bags, there’s no way these bases are worth what’s being charged. All of ‘em.
And as for touratech, rebranding ortleib made kit and charging double?! BMW riders must be blind. 🤯
……breathe in slow….and out….

so anyone got a good base they could recommend? 👍😁

I have used my own 20l bags with the givi base. It works. You just need to make sure that the diameter of the dry bags is not that much larger than the givi dry bags suggested. I have no pictures of my set-up with the 20l. I will hopefully get some this weekend.

Here are the pics. Was only going for a one night trip so I stuffed the bags with as much useless stuff as possible. The limiting factor is the length of the straps on the givi base and not the distance to the exhaust. So you need dry bags with a limited circumference.

I also would like to say that you get what you pay for. The strap to the footpegs is probably a weak point and will rip were I to crash the bike.

Tusk Pilot Pannier Bags

I have Adventure Spec racks and have been using OS18 bags - very happy with that.

I need more capacity and am considering Tusk Pilot Pannier Bags, with the tusk heat shield on the muffler - though I think the bag will clear without it.

Anyone have experience using the Tusk Pilot with the T7 and particulaly with the Adventure Spec Luggage support rack?

Not sure if it's been posted yet, but Green Chile Adventure's Pecos Bundle is a solid option. Simple, rugged, and quite cheaper compared to its competitors (US$209 regular price, got mine during their Christmas sale for 25% off). Comes with 2 20L dry bags for a total of 40L of storage, but due to the flexibility of the design you can easily replace them with larger bags, and/or strap additional luggage to their soft rack. Here are some pictures when I was exploring how to best rig it for my needs.

This is one of the most flexible luggage systems you will ever use. They are built to withstand the gnarliest adventures, and allow you to keep the weight down for better off road handling. The Pecos bundle can also be used...

I also bought a GCAG Pecos Value Bundle for use on both my T7 and R1200GS, and have found it to be super versatile, innovative, and a great deal. I've only done a test fitting of the harness to the T7 so far, but plan on using it extensively for my travels in 2022.

Hi everyone

I took the plunge and bought the yamaha rear rack which attaches to the original explorer pack side pannier rails.

Because it already is set up with the monokey plate you have no additional cost of buying an adaptor plate.

However I went for the Givi 42l Trekker Outback top box which match the original yamaha explorer panniers. Saved £128 on the top box and £80 because no base plate.

Ebay NativeVikking in UK sell all the Givi range and the top box was only £232.00

Came with a key and lock already fitted so save another £25.00 not having to buy yamaha key set.

Happy safe riding to all.

Great! It puzzles me that it's very hard to find info about the compatibility of original racks (rear and side) with GIVI cases. So you used your existing GIVI Trekker with the rear rack. Does the side rack fit also with existing GIVI Monokey panniers?

Hi not sure about the side panniers, I went for the Yamaha set up, but the panniers are the outback trekker ones. But not sure if the fitting rail where they clip in are a direct match.

Some have probably seen the new offering from 21 Brothers, but I thought I would post it here for some who might be looking for a luggage setup.

The Pocket appears to be a design copying the  Mosco Moto Reckless 80 system layout with 25 or 30L bags which slide in and out of the side pouches.

Definitely not as durable a Mosco stuff, but has a tongue on the outside for extra quick storage.  Some external pouches for bottles as well as a few other options to the basic unit.

The colors are customizable  as well which might be a plus for some.

I don't have one, but came across it a few weeks ago when looking at options and thought I would post it here for those still looking.

My understanding is all their products are made to order.  There is no stock on the shelf, so there is going to be a significant wait time.  If I was on the other side of the pond I think I would order one, but shipping to North America will probably push me to a different product.

Anyway I just wanted to show another option that has just hit the market if you were not aware of their stuff.

Price seems fair as well.

Lonerider Overlander 30l. Can be mounted to the front or all the way back on the top rack. Along or a cross the bike. And has straps to carry as a backpack.

2x Lonerider 6l crashbar bags. Perfect to fit toolroll, tubes, air pump, ...

2x Kriega OS-18. for all the camping gear.

Everything is mounted over SW-Motech top rack and RallyRaid Soft luggage racks.

Still need to find a heat shield for the exhaust.

@didierwe have the same rear rack and 18s. What do you have as a rack or none on the sides?sorry just seen the answer.  I have andystrapz frames and the OS18s clip straight to the side, sideways, out the way of the can, but I wanted more support so bought the os straps. Pain in the arse. I’ll get the minicam straps instead to assist with carrying weight over the seat, and making it easier to mount. How do you mount yours? And do they move much?

Are those steel?  What do you think of their weight?  I can't find any info on material or weight on the R&G website.

I would write to R&G or Twisted Throttle to get specs.

I've got a pair of those coming in the mail from Twisted Throttle. When I did my research I came up with 4-4.5 lbs for both, but maybe that is wrong. I am going to pair them with the either the Camel-Adv minimalist rear rack or the SW-Motech rear rack. I'd like to go with the Camel-Adv rear rack, but when cruising around town I like to have my old big KLR 650 soft top case tied onto the rack, so the Camel-Adv rack might be too small. For side luggage I have two Kriega OS 18s and on top a Kriega US-30 Drypack. So heaps and heaps of room. For tours I generally also put a very small duffel on my rear rack for carrying my tent (1 lbs) and ground pad, and for stuffing a jacket and rain gear into. Right now I have the oem rear rack on my bike, which is really nice, but it is HEAVY (13 lbs!!).

When my R&G side racks arrive, which should be in a few days, I'll post the weight.

Hi.

I mount mine over RallyRaid racks with the straps of the bags. It is a bit tricky, specially the first time. They don't move much. Went for a week ride with all my camping gear (tent, sleeping, chair, cooking stove, ....)

And event ended on the side a couple of times.

But the bags didn't move.

To "secure" or should I say to make them a bit less trivial to steal I use python masterlock 1.8m x 5mm cable just by threading it through the rack and bags loops.

So just the four normal straps and clips on the back of the bag, looping around the top and the bottom of the frame?

Exactly. However one strap goes over the SW Motech rear rack tube. Schematically it looks like this:
image.png.c88f5b625794e02a4f1d7edc23af3f96.png
Blue is the SW moteck rack tube. Red are the 4 straps on Kriega OS-18. It is the most forward position I found on the rack. Bags are slightliy tilted down and doesnt interfere when riding.
