I figured I'd just start a running thread of the rallies we find and participate in. So far, it's been... Bola de Goma El Salvador Darien Rally Rally Vultur Upcoming rallies... Chasqui Ride Copa del Rey Trail Trophy We just wrapped up the first Darien Rally of the year. I stumbled on this in December and immediately knew I had to do this because it was a [digital] roadbook event, and I've always wanted to try one. There wasn't much info on it except for the dates and general location. I signed up and then a couple days later Odessa committed to it also, so we were all in. They offered a couple 50 km practice loops to get familiar with roadbooks, and that was really h…

This might be the dumbest decision ever... Andy (of Heavy Enduro fame) and I registered for the 2024 Red Bull Romanics Hard Enduro Race on our Teneres; we'll be racing Iron class. 284 days to prep and I'll need every single one 🤣

Another race in the books for the T7, this time at the inaugural StadiumGP at the Reno Rodeo Arena. A vet style MX course included jumps, whoops, and rollers. They included an ADV class, to which 8 riders showed up! Quickly learned sending a 450lbs bike through MX whoops and rollers aggressively wasn’t for the faint of heart. Suspension had a workout all night, with numerous bottoming out (to be expected). Ended up getting the holeshot in the main event and took first place for the ADV class. We were quite the crowd pleasers, honking our horns while ripping berms and blitzing whoops in front of the fans. An experience I won’t soon forget! Really enjo…

First race with the T7 at the 2024 VCGP in the ADV class. Historic race with over 500 riders on the Sunday course this year. Lots of rocks, whoops, and downed riders to pass, but got it done finishing P1 in the ADV class. Completed 5 loops riding 78 miles total in 3 hours. Found out racing a 450lbs bike is quite the crowd pleaser! Motoz RallyZ rear with the Desert H/T front held up well overall. Motoz heavy duty tubes were a must in those conditions. Frontline Suspension tuned Ktech inserts did the job. More T7 races to come, had a blast racing big bikes!

I FINALLY found a rally that's both happening at a time and place around us AND doesn't cost $2000. Instead it's $2700 pesos, or $157 USD. Rally Bola De Goma is a series of single day rides around central/southern Mexico, and I'm doing the one in Oaxaca. I entered in the DP Libre Rally class, so I'll be taking a stab at an interesting 280-300km route. Trying to understand or translate route difficulty is....difficult. One person's easy is another's worst nightmare. I'm not really sure what to expect, but since the rally is on March 23, I have the next few weeks to find practice spots, ditch 50 kg of crap, and practice riding unladen. There are supposed to be s…

Not bad for a guy who admittedly doesn't have much desert riding experience on a 240 kg bike! New «king» of Africa was «crowned»: Stevan Svitko won the Africa Eco Race Stefan Svitko took victory yesterday in the 2022 edition of the...

Wanna start off with I am not affiliated with this rally nor know much about it. However I did sign up for it as it will be my first rally event ever! https://labarstowvegas.com/ I always wanted to do an event like this and now have the chance! Who else from the forums is going to be attending? Also what should a newbie like me going solo have on me during a 400+ mile journey through the desert?

We were in Hermosillo and were able to catch the start of this year's Sonora Rally, where there's one Tenere racing this year... Not sure if he's on here, but we met then owner, Ben, cool dude. Today is stage 3 of 5, and he's sharing his live location here and pictures on Instagram.

I just realized the Mint 400 is happening in a couple weeks, and I think I'm going to sign up for the Adventure Sportsman class with the Tenere. The Mint 400 | The Great American Off-Road Race The Mint 400 is the oldest and most prestigious off-road race in America. Held annually in March, over 550 race teams in 80+ classes compete for two days. We happen to be in the area now, and actually rode some of the same tracks from the last year's course without realizing it... It's mostly sand with some hard pack. Running the numbers now to figure out how much it'll wind up costing. The entry fee is pr…

I raced the 51st annual VCPG in Virginia City, Nevada last weekend. VC is a very cool old mining town from the 1800s. The wooden boardwalk and saloons (with names like Bucket 'o Blood) on main street still stand and wild horse roam the streets, it's a unique place. I did battle with a guy on a 9X0 KTM for the entire first lap, swapping positions 8 times and completing the first lap 6 secs apart. I passed him at the beginning of lap two and didn't see him again. I was quite certain that I had a lap on him and the other T7 rider in the ADV class (and a few others tell me the same thing). Unfortunately, Moto-Tally Scoring disagreed. Regardle…

After being cancelled twice due to COVID, the 50th annual Stumpjumper's Desert 100 race is a go! It's a very cool event, up to 7000 people camped on-site and 1200 ish racers. The "main" classes race two 50 miles laps and the special classes (Vintage, 15 and under Kids, Ladies 50 etc) are one 50 mile lap. This is one of the few race events that has an ADV class. It's open to street-legal bikes with a factory displacement of 651cc and higher. The ADV class is usually dominated by KTM 950 Super Enduros and 950/990 ADVs but due to COVID, it hasn't been run since the T7 and 790/890 were launched. I expect to see a good showing of both bikes this year. 2012 was the first yea…

Had a great day out on the T7 at Mablethorpe Beach Races, a 1/2 mile flat track oval, set up when the tide goes out. Abit hairy on the Kenda Big Block tyres, but super fun, rode 100 miles to event, raced, then rode home.

I'm planning on entering the Dinaric Rally in Aug 2022. The Technical Rules have just been released and at this stage I'm all good with the exception of one regulation. "The handlebars must be equipped with a protection pad on the cross bar. Handlebars without a cross member must be equipped with a protection pad located in the middle of the handlebars, covering widely the handlebars clamps." As I'm not planning on changing out my stock handlebars, does anyone have any suggestions for what bar pad would work with my stock handlebars?

My good friend and regular riding parter Jaden suggested we race a hare scramble on our T7s. We entered the Gloomy Creek Hare Scramble a couple of weeks ago and raced in the Sportsman B class, which is pretty mellow. I've done some desert races but this was my first woods race (on any bike) so the Sportsmen class was good for a first attempt. Jaden has a bunch of hare scramble and X-Country races under is belt (on an actual enduro bike). The Pro/A/B groups had a two hour time limit, most laps the time window wins. Our C group was on a modified course, one hour time limit. Some of the women's classes are in the C group as well as Sportsman and Vintage. The C lo…

I'm currently living in St. Louis MO. And I've been trying to find a rally i can enter myself and the T7 into within CONUS. So far i hasn't been able to find something along the lines of the Baja 1000 or a Dakar type rally just shortened. Or even an Adventure Class rally. If anyone knows any event or has an idea of where to point me i would much appreciate it! Thanks!!

Yamaha Italy has done something pretty cool and set up a Ténéré Rally Challenge for this 2021 season articulated on 5 races and divided in 2 classes. The first class is dedicated to amateur riders and will consist in racing simply using a GPS so for example any GPS that reads GPX files, potentially could even be a tablet, the route will be easy off-road. The second class is considered the Pro class where riders will race with a roadbook holder and navigate through the entire same route that the National Rally Championship does. 2021 RALLY CHALLENGE CALENDAR 27/28 March | Scarlino (GR) – Tuscany (ITALY) 01/02 May | Sardinia (ITALY) 26/27 June | Ro…

Hello everyone, Few months ago I decided to take a leap of faith and register for Dinaric Rally 2020 in Croatia which is taking place on 10 - 13 September! At the moment there are 2 T7 registered, full list of riders is here. I've never raced or competed before so I'm quite excited and anxious at the same time as you can imagine. The closer the rally is the more I can feel it. Lets see if overlanding is useful when it comes to rally racing. I started Couch to Rally series on YouTube and in last you can see the T7 all ready to race, already on the 1st leg down to Croatia. I'm talking about the modifications to my T7 in this e…
